Bed End Press Studs.jpg

Might be a bit hard to see in the pic but replaced the original press studs with better quality stainless steel marine studs and added a few more to see how they hang on in windier conditions!!!!

Can feel the difference when pulling them off so hopefully all's good!

Water proofed the bed ends and covers but didn't get to clean the inside and start repacking due to 4 and 5 year olds getting dropped off for looking after..... Looks like tomorrow's job after they leave.

Spent the weekend at Lake Tyers again because its such a nice relaxing place.
Headed off on Thursday to return Monday lunchtime, to Mornington to see the fire works for Aust Day, Oi Oi Oi.
Caught some local prawns, had a great meal at the pub, bit of kite flying, fishing, sitting by the pool……
Stayed at the "the lakes beachfront holiday retreat" 5 minutes out of Lakes Entrance. Out of a choice of grassed sites or bush sites, we went bush site given it was sunny. The new snow flake retro fitted antenna worked a treat.

hi @jacbaz , good site however we did get a bit of leaf litter on the van and gum nuts dropping now and again.
would be a good site for those hot days.
Fire works are always a pretty good show at Mornington @davemc , but your right , the traffic is heavy afterwards.

Took the 16.49-2 for its shakedown trip this weekend to Deniliquin Big 4 on the Edwards River - great spot!

Met the wife's family there, they stayed in cabins overlooking the river.

Van traveled well and set up was much easier than the 08 Swan OB, one of the reasons we upgraded. Did discover however that we had lost the nut from the knob that holds the upper bar of the Carefree awning during travel, it mustn't have been tightend before we left. Has this happened to anyone else before?

Kids had a great time feeding the possums that came out just on dark, as you can see they were very friendly. The park cat was also a hit with the kids!

Can not speak highly enough of the service we received at the park and highly recommend it - we will certainly be back - next time with the boat to land a big cod!
The trip home provided an opportunity for a detour to Picninc Point, just off the Cobb Highway at Mathoura for a BBQ and a fish at the start of the Narrows - part of the Murray that leads into the Barmah Lake system. The river is much narrower here and runs a lot faster - will be the starting point for a tinny run with the swag I have planned in the next couple of weeks all the way back into Echuca - just a shame its closed season for Cod now until December - still theres plenty of Yella's to be caught! Kids were excited to see a lizard sunning itself by the river, looks like a large skink. Unfortunately, fish were not biting!

Spent Saturday as OIC of an election booth. Started at 6:30 am, over 2000 voters through the booth during the day, most friendly but some just wasting oxygen. Storm hit around 3:00, bucketed down for 15 minutes, wind blew like blazes and took down a couple of large gum trees in the school grounds. Started the vote count soon after closing at 6:00 and finally finished and balanced at about 11:30 pm. Good help is hard to find and you have no idea the trouble that one lousy worker can cause among 10 other workers. We finally figured out what she had been doing that stuffed up about 60 votes that we had to account for.

I'm not sure it is worth the pay for the amount of time spent in a training session, setting up the booth the day before, then doing an 18 hour day with the problems of dealing with the public. If I do it again, I will go as just an ordinary peon issuing votes and let someone else
carry the can. :bolt:

Just spent Sunday sitting around and watching the cricket. :couch2:

I've been doing it since 1992, became OIC next election, and have only missed two since, including local, state and federal and yes, there are many stories. Last election I swore that would be my last :frusty: but I fronted up again.

After all these years @chartrock I bet you wont see another one like this one, or maybe not :censored:

I washed and polished the new van, some peoples clean is so different to our clean......... Went out and spent some more money today, bought a ozzie traveller anti flap kit and a couple of rafters, off to cotton tree CP tomorrow for 3 nights for a shake down, should be interesting as there is a strong wind warning with that old cyclone coming down the coast apparently bringing some rain as well :clap2:

don't forget some action pics to close this one off @chartrock , r yeh forgot your up north , things dry out a bit quicker than down here.
I get a bit bored when it rains and i am stuck at home, so today i smashed the kitchen and cut my fingers twice, damm sharp broken tiles. The wife wants over head cupboards and glass splash back, upgrading range hood in the process.
guess its not a week end thing for me but any time it rains. :rain:

Well got all the tiles off including the wall it was attached to, re plastered the walls, framed and plastered the bulk head, first coat of under coat. Cant wait to get back to van mods, Sooooooo much more fun.

Mrs CR has been doing a bit of sewing these last couple of days making a bag for our anti flap kit so they wont get too scratched in the new 150 mm pole tube. Trouble is when you roll them up the knobs etc bulk it up and make it difficult to fit them in. Plan B then had the parts paired up in separate bags and this allowed the parts to be fitted and it all went in easy even taking three extra poles as well. The air around here was a bit blue :o for a while but all good now. :D

Good luck with the cyclone test. :behindsofa:
