plenty of time to :-
1) clean out the garage
2) clean out the yard
3) make sure all work on house has been completed
4) start shopping list of things to buy for Van
5) start comparing prices and availability of goods required for Van
6) plan out what you will need for the Mod's your about to start when it arrives

you will be like everyone else, and run out of time, when the Van arrives

I second that waiting sux:(
But in our case time flew by looking back and jeez the wait is worth it:amen:

What sucked most for us was we sold our old van before collecting the new one and had to drag the swags out for three trips. Oh my giddy aunt I don't sleep well on the ground:ambivalence:

I'll definitely second all the above.

We thought the wait for the Jayco was difficult...but bearable. Ordered May, delivered September.
The last wait was far worse....ordered June, delivered end of January.

In both cases, we'd sold the current van after we'd ordered, so were van less for almost the entire waiting period.

The really difficult thing, I think, is how well they communicate with you during that time. In our case, Jayco won hands down!

and we did almost all of @bigcol 's list of stress distractors / necessities.

dont forget security for your Van, if you are going to be parking out the front.......................

Shotgun on a trip wire? :laser:

I was thinking of either getting something to put in the coupling and lock it or maybe a wheel clamp?

all depends on the shape and whats in your front yard

mounting bollards to chain axles to
sensor lights

there was a previous thread about Van security

at the end of the day, if they want your Van, they will get it

For security you can put a GPS tracker in or an old iphone (with cheap pre paid) and "Find My Friends" which tells you if your van moves.
Nothing will stop people stealing it its good to have deterrents, although you might get t back if you can track it.

years ago, a mate of mine kept parking his van out the front of his house (was not a very nice neighborhood for sure)
anyhoo

he put a small fence around where he parked it (about 4' high) out of steel, the poles went another 4' underground, so it was stable, and you could only get the thing out 1 way

just an idea

I think it would take ages to undo the barbed wire I'd be using around that fence...with the pit bull inside it.

Maybe you could just leave his bones as a deterrent.

A digression as I've been quite good for a while....wheel clamps for a single axle......any recommendations?

My yard is fenced only one way out 75% of the time my car will be parked in the way so night time theft is very unlikely but I was considering incorporating 2 bollards that collapse and come up just infront of the aframe to stop anyone being able to get it out when my car isn't there

Or a removable locking bollard cast the base into the concrete you drop the bollard in there are a few ways they lock in that might be a better option

Don't know if you have to do any construction but we had a slab put down, with one of those huge anchor shaped things (left over from a shed construction) set in the concrete and a strong bolt.

When I remember, I can attach a heavy chain to that and thread it through the wheels and the step.

I know bolt cutters and 12v grinders are being used but it might slow them down.....and I'm looking to add a wheel clamp or two.

The joys of a new van!

thats the biggest problem, the ease of getting a 12V / 18v / 24V grinder
if you make it not so easy, you have a "fighting chance" of keeping it

another point - Neighbors
make sure they know that no-one but you and your car will ever be hooking the Van up
see if they can keep an eye out if a different car reverses into your drive, and record rego's...............

The two week wait for our van was a killer >:( :D
Like @davemc we bought floor stock (on the day it was delivered!!) and had to wait until they fitted the few extras we wanted!

Damned if I know how you all get through the few months of hell!
