any have any idea how I get our van lead tested and tagged. Been told we can't use it till its done. Our electrician does it but I can't pin him down to get it done.
All the test n tag places seem to do only bulk testings.
We are North Bris.

I know the "Jim's" franchise does test and tags down here in Vic, not sure about QLD. Might be worth checking.

Who said it needs to be done I have never heard of that before?

Do you mean test and tag of the appliances or a certificate for the van wiring. There is no legal requirement for the first but there is for the second one. I have heard on other websites that some caravan parks are requiring both. If you have a new van then you should have received a certificate for the vans wiring.

as @Middo
who told you that it needs to be tested before use?
on ALL new Power Cables (10A & 15A) they have a little bit of paper attached to it - this is the test cert from Manufacture
if who ever has said you need it tested - and its a brand new cable
tell them to jump........... if its a Van Park, ask them for their current Safety Cert........ for their Park :)

seems a bit strange to me

yes, again as per @Middo your Van needs to be certified - and is from Manufacture - any additions you do electrically will also be recorded next to the test cert on your Van

Hi
Since January 2015 it appears they must be tested. Every 12 months
Wanted to book big 4 At treasure Island and their website has it up. Not checked others yet.
I'm desperate for our first expanda trip but first brakes... Now power!!!! Grrrrrr
I'm worried we get there and they won't let us use it. We have solar too but it only seems to power basics like lights and no sockets etc. Can we change that at all. Fridge is gas and electric.

Cannot find any legislation in Queensland about requiring leads to be checked. Like I said, caravan parks can include it as a condition as part of their OH&S. If necessary, ask if they provide the service and how much. Please note, you do not need to be an electrician to test and tag, you just need to be assessed as being competent in doing it. Repairs, you need to get an electrician to do it.

Did hear rumours that you needed the cords tested in Qld, when we were there in 2013, I thought I would risk it and was never asked once, that included mostly big 4 resort parks.

From what I could find it is only of the cord is to be used for commercial purposes, that it needed to be tested and tagged.

I agree with Middo, can't speak for other states but I don't know of any requirement under the Elect Act or Reg for Qld that requires caravaners to test and tag there leads before using them in parks. I suspect some park owners have been rattled by a Liability insurer, with the Insurer just trying to cover there backsides.

I suppose in this day and age of litigation, and the fact that the "controller of a work place" has a very broad range of obligations, it makes sense to direct the heat onto the tester or at least the owner of the equipment.
Once the lead is checked and confirmed tagged (by the controller of the work place), the legitimacy of the equipment then falls back onto the owner or user and not the establishment.
Being involved in the construction industry, I see some builders (controllers of the work place) shift the responsibility on to anyone but themselves on a daily basis.
I carry a pack of tags and the appropriate testing equipment in the van just in case, it'll only cost you a beer and a "thanks"
