Cheers @Journey I can't take credit for the light. If I remember correctly this one came from @Pace. But you can get them at Bunnings/Masters. 2 AA battery powered. Actually, I'm putting another one in on the inside on the ensuite door, so when the tin kids get up in the night for a number 1, the light will go on when the door opens.

Cheers @Soaring very gracious of you. Pace.

That's a great idea.

Has anyone put a hatch opening to the outside for access under the main bed in their 17.55-5 Sh OB? If so would it be big enough to fit a generator or Baby Q?

I don't think the beds are mounted high enough to clear either @Journey iirc you need about 400mm for a high kid weber and Honda 2 gen.

So maybe not "mods" but I've been doing some pre trip shopping.

I picked up a new 12v compressor. If anyone is in the market for one, check out this comparison.

The overall winner was the Dr Air Pro Flow 150. I picked it on eBay from autoelecau in Bairnsdale. Came with a bonus led lamp strip. $199 with free shipping.
The Jump Starter I figured could come in handy, particularly when I have s brain fade and leave the Expanda hooked up to the tug and flatten the battery.
I also grabbed a new tyre repair kit, and a cheap Go-Pro. I'm interested in punting it under the van while on the GRR to see what sort of punishment the suspension has to deal with.

Bought the exact same compressor pack from autoelec mate. Great service and a great bit of kit. Love the Anderson plug idea as well... despite me not having an Anderson plug to plug it in to...

Recently did the same to my compressors.... Saves having to lift the bonnet and reaches the van tyres if needed.
Also made up an alligator clip to anderson plug adaptor if the compressor is needed for a vehicle without an anderson fitted.

Another mod in the making. Picked up this toolbox last week. I only really need somewhere for the ramps, hoses, matting and jockey wheel. Haven't mounted it yet, need to do a spare wheel relocation.

Fits pretty well between the bottles, just need to reverse the clamps.

Managed to squeeze another small mod in on the weekend before heading to the G to watch my Tigers embarrass themselves once again. Lucky I did this on Saturday morning, as I was in no fit state to do anything on Sunday.
The only saving grace was I placed an "emotional protection" punt on Geelong. And picked up some coin. :)
Anyway, the mod was just to install a stone guard that my father in law was nice enough to donate. I was looking at the one that @TRAKADU currently has for sale, but this one is far better (read free!)
No it's a cheapy but I just need it for this upcoming trip.

I've got a large roll of insertion rubber, so this weekend I'll get stuck into the underside protection.

I also got the toolbox bolted down.
I reversed the glass bottle holders to give that extra space, and ensure I can open them to swap bottles.
I just bolted the box down to the existing spare wheel frame with U bolts. But had the pack the rear cross member with dome 1" SHS to bring it all level.
I'll grab a pick from inside.
The lid opens about 80% of the way before contacting the gars regulator, but that's fine.

Next lot of mods complete this weekend.
Fitted the Anderson plug to the front of the van. I can use this to either plug in the portable solar panel I picked up during the week, or run the compressor. (Or fridge if I had one)
I revited the Anderson plug holder to back of the tool box. Should keep it well protected. I like the dinky little led that shows it has power.

Next up was the obligatory wardrobe to pantry conversion. Knocked up some rough ply shelves using aluminium angle to hold them in place.
Nothing fancy, more function over form.... Just like me;)

With the off cut, I made up a bed end storage shelf. It annoys me the not only do we have to put up with crappy mattresses, wet canvas, and having to climb over the better half to get into bed( actually I don't mind that bit) but there is nowhere to put your stuff when in bed.
Will hold a books, phone, TV remote, etc.
Just got to mount it now.
