Same for us when heading down to Busselton each February..... Arrive on the last weekend of school holidays and kids/noise all over the place at all times and come Monday it's like we think we are making too much noise staying up late when all the grey nomads have retired to bed by 8PM :bounce:

Then comes 5AM and you can hear them tinkering around with their vans or cars while Mum's cooking brekkie for them ;) Just hope I'm doing what they are doing at their age :D

For the 1st time in many years we wont be going anywhere for the Sep/Oct holidays. :( Though its a good time of year to hit The Outback before the summer heat kicks in.

Hi @ROnEM we have just a similar trip, first night Renmark, Port Augusta, Coober Pedy (2 nights so we could do the tour), Erldunda and Uluru then Kings Canyon. You could push through from Coober Pedy to Uluru in one day if the schedule is tight (we did Kings Canyon back to Coober Pedy in one day), It would make for 4 really long days to get there but all possible. Part of the fun for us was having the time to see things on the way such as Woomera and Lake Hart.

I would recommend doing the tour at Coober Pedy run out of the Big4 caravan park as a good day to break up a day without travel on the way up.

Here's some pics of our trip.

Where is everyone else heading?

We stayed there in December last year and really enjoyed it except for the terrible weather. Even managed to catch some fish!

We stayed on one of the sites up on the cliff and the views were great and nice facilities, we had amazing lightening shows out over the ocean on a few of the nights.

Ta @Ash yes we have a cliff top site so hope weather ok..looks a good park

@mfexpanda yes eventually did it so now @Bluey can really laugh at my backing.

@ROnEM a long time ago we did Melb to the rock in a couple of days driving a Barina ;) Depends where you want to stop how amused the kids will be.. Just watch driving dusk or dawn and those big trucks do own the road ;) we want to go next year long service due Dec 16.. Not the best time to head north though. Picking van up from Mt Gambier so tempted to keep going. Be a fun trip for you mate

hmmm. Caravanning, tinkering at 5am ... or :censored: ????

We've been in Port Stephens area the last 2 years over the transition from kids xmas holidays to grey nomad invasion. Both years on the last day of the holidays, the last of the families (aside from us) roll out and its like the grey nomads are lined up parked around the corner waiting for the kids to all leave ... and in they come in procession one after the other. I suspect they send in a forward scout to do a confirmation recce, some 85 year old hipster dress as a school kid (aka Angus Young), carrying a skate board with his hat on backwards "eating" m&m's (instead of listening to Eminem). Not 100% sure that its not also something to do with the tariff switch ... you know what these pensioners are like, $$$ ------ ;)
