With the Great Aussie Camp Cook Up originally booked for this weekend with @bigcol and his 4WD Club this weekend I ran out of time to make the fire pit as per drawings I posted earlier..... Went somewhere different the other day (The Big Green Shed ;) ) and found these stacked up on special for $29.90 so grabbed one to take away!!!! Bought more for a small fire pit but may get used to cook on.

Unfortunately due to family stuff our trip was cancelled and haven't tried it out as yet so hopefully after our next time away I can report on it!

Hey guys,

Thinking of buying one. I have been scouring the interweb and Facebook looking at ideas and different types. I am looking at one that can be dismantled and packed away in a canvas bag or the like. This way we can use it at home or in the van.

I will probably never cook over it as we have a BabyQ for that job. Just wanting something to sit around and let the kids melt marshmallows to a rubbery pulp!

Be interested to see pics of what you have or if anyone here makes them even better!

I made on op ot of an expired gas bottle. Ensure completely empty, fill with water and flush several times. Using a angle grinder cut the top part of the cylinder off where it meets the side parallel. That is now your base. Aot the bottom 3/4 of the bottle on top of you base. Done

Yep, charcoal thingy, grill, lid lifter, and the kickstand. I like the control I get with temps when cooking using it. Gets a few looks when I've got it going in caravan park too.
