I didn't spend any money.
Was good to check out what's out there and walked away still happy with my Discovery 17.55.5SH.
Only other layout which i liked was the Starcraft pop top 17ft with double bunk and shower.
Helped my friend with finding a van and watched as a $85K van turned into a $110K. Interesting seeing a salesman explain why their van is $30K dearer than a Jayco. Those are real expensive hinges? Does an overhead cupboard need to support my weight when it will only being holding a couple of jars of vegemite?
I was surprised to see that a lot of the high end vans don't have hot dipped gal chassis. I gather Jayco can do it because of the number they are producing.
Oh well your chassis is completely rusted out, but hey you can still swing off your cupboards.

Your mate must have been looking at Elite vans

Actually after what the last "look" cost us. SWMBO is not fussed on me going anywhere with my wallet!

I know that feeling, though it's her idea.

weather man says rain, skies are clear here for now, but we're going anyway.

Well! I went I saw stayed away from ''MOST" of the vans.
I refrained from purchasing a Hema 7 Navigator at a pretty good price.
I didn't by myself new camp chair (from ARB):( probably get better price from my local dealer anyway.
I couldn't get updated copy of Caravan Parks Australia Wide, no one had them.
I did buy some so called (unbreakable) acrylic coffee cups from Coast to Coast as we left ours at home:oops: Oh well! they'll come in handy.
The better half picked up some honey from the Inverell/Glen Innes stand.

Oh yeah! Yes it rained:rain: wasn't to bad though, just on/off.

Yeah we went down this afternoon as well. Sorta forced into, anyway grabbed some rhino bits to finish the rack, new towball for the soon to be unleashed "special " drop hitch (keep an eye on the tug section) . Chatted to the hema bloke too, but he was shattered when I said I just ordered one from NRMA ! Bought an ezy level cause if there's one thing I hate it's leveling vans. Refrained from buying a biji barbie or another hillbilly bit of kit.

Oh and visited what was to be our 17.58-3 on the Jayco stand !!! It's on special so if anybody wants a very well optioned 17:58-3 minus a big fridge they will get a deal. Especially given they hadn't listed the 16's, extended drawbar or ESC on the options list. Pic to come.

Thought overall its a better show than a few years ago?

Ezy level looks good.
Which stand did you get it from and how much are they?
Thanks (I'm going tomorrow, will see if I can find 'your' van)

Although I thought they fix at least that by moving it :(
I mean how do you sell the fact your kids control the drifte
Nope buy a 17.58.3 with std fridge solar and a drifter and that's where they put it. Welcome to Jayco world

That was the first thing I noticed when I went inside that van. Can just image the kids flicking the display on and off all night, along with the water pump. :frusty:

Funny enough he bought one of these today. Stayed under the $100k mark, looks like one of the better ones for the money. Still completely beyond my price range.

Yep you got to wonder how some of them justify that much extra coin, yep they may be custom built and not mass produced and more attention to detail not rushed down an assembly line, but at the end of the day they all use the same components e.g. doors windows, stoves, fridges, axles brakes suspension of various types etc.. etc.

Before we bought the Silverline we looked at a lot of vans from all makers.
Most do not fix appliances that are fitted to the van if it's not working YOU need to ring distributor and get them to fix it ,
F$&k that I bought the from you , most charge you extra if you want the chassey hot dipped gal and more again if you want independent suspension .
Most vans we looked at were 19 to 20 ft to try and stay under the $70.000 mark .
But at the end of the day we could not get what we wanted with out blowing out the budget so the Silverline blew the rest away .
We were real keen on the lotus freelander but it was over what we wanted to spend ,but thought ok it's what we want ,
It was still 19.5ft ,2 ft smaller than we wanted, but the real deal killer was they do not do bed converters !
You what think that for $74,000 you'd do it .
So we got a great OB van with independent suspension ,hot dipped gal 2ft bigger all the mods and cons ,full annex ,auto sat dish ,all repair work will be done at dealer and bed converter for way cheaper !
We couldn't be happier .

Just my 2c

You nailed it bushman, and invariably it's these extra components that give you the grief.
