So we leave on Saturday for 3 weeks away on a road trip up to the Sunshine and Gold coasts chasing the sunshine and warm weather- of course there is going to be a cold snap for the first week of it!
We wanted to go in August but work has said go now or no holidays at all.
We haven't really been able to give the van much of a shakedown prior to leaving due to work issues(the water leak mentioned previously never repeated itself so far) - so I have packed the battery drill, silastic gun, liquid nails and gaffer tape - should be right! ;)
I have removed the top bunk in the cafe area and put a tv in there for the lil disney princess, but apart from that made no other mods at this stage, but who knows what we may do along the way!
Looking forward to the trip, but not the fuel bill after towing the pop up for the last 18 mths.

I am still chasing a off the shelf toolbox for the front of the van - at least 1800x500x500, does anyone know where I may be able to purchase one whilst I am over east in S.E Qld, Northern NSW - I am a tad too much of a tight ass to get one custom made here in SA at this stage?

Cheers PF

Hey @Passionfingers, I recently purchased a 1800*600*500 2.5mm Alum tool box from G7 Australia in Everton Hills QLD, in the burbs west of Brisbane. $545.00 +del

Pickup will save you the $100 freight that I paid from Brisbane to Melb. It was the biggest of the shelf box I could find. Im mounting on a 20.63.1OB (ext drawbar), and Im really happy with it

So yesterday went to put a few new purchases into the van and measure up for some others and this involved kneeling down on the floor. The missus threw a new rug in the other week, and as I knelt on it, I noticed it was soaked, and upon tracing moisture noticed a fair watermark on the floor directly behind the slide out lounge / fridge area where water had pooled. WTF! I thought.
So I traced as much as I could but came up none the wiser, so stuck the missus inside and started spraying the roof madly to see if anything would indicate where the leak was coming from.
The only thing I can come up with is that maybe in the preceding week when we had some heavy rain, that it splashed up under the front hatch / skylight - is this common?
Naturally I will check again when we have a heavy rain event - but if it isn't the hatch, where else should I be looking, and if it is the hatch, what has been the fix, a new seal, re- alignment etc. ?
Cheers PF
We have the 21-64, and we found out that the water runs off the slide out awning, down the van and into the fridge vent. It was everywhere, including under the club lounge, but especially under the fridge and inside the cupboard it sits on. I got a plastic bag from Coles, took the vent off and placed the plastic bag over the top of it. Then replaced the vent. It allowed the water to run on the outside and down the van.......problem solved. Apparently we were meant to have a bit of plastic placed above the vent so it stopped the water getting in. We only found it was the vent/slide out by going out when it was pouring with rain, otherwise the hose was just not enough.

Thanks @Smirke, will keep an eye out for that, if it was ever going to replicate itself - this next week should allow it too!

Im struggling to picture it, but it sounds not good from a design perspective?

Yeah thats the go @Crusty181 - something like that at that price is right up my alley - any reason you didnt move the gas bottles? Did you have to move the spare or was it in a diff. spot from the factory?
Yeah, ha, because at the moment the box is just sitting on the drawbar, it was only delivered a couple of days back. Have to move the gas bottles and mount the heater fuel tank. My spare is factory mounted to the rear bumper .... we dont have the rear bed

Brain hasn't been working too good lately. I use the plastic bag as a type of 'flashing' . Apparently our jayco guy was suprised we didn't have the plastic strip above the vent at pick up, as it was a known leakage problem.

I had an image of the vent inside a plastic bag ..... The fridge is petty close to the slide out?

Try http://www.matesratestools.com.au they are at Yatala Qld, just off the highway, thats just north of the Gold Coast. I bought the shed for back of my new ute there and they have a big selection of alloy boxes, great price and room to park a van if just passing thru.

Just remember to measure from your tow ball to the side of your vehicle then measure the same length from your hitch back along your drawbar and mark it, thats the crunch zone.

Yes. And when the slide out is out, the water tends to run straight off it, down the side of the van and into the right corner of the vent. we originally thought it was leaking from the roof, but everything inside was dry when traveling. It certainly flooded the van.

You wouldnt happen to have a pic of your retrofit for potential future reference would you @Smirke - went out this morning to check since the slide was out the last 48 hrs and we have had some light rain - and it is all dry atm.

Funny thing. Haven't seen my van since May 4th. Took it in for warrantee work and it's still there. I believe I may see it some time around the middle of next month.......possibly.
All I did was to put a plastic bag between the vent and the surround at the top and let the bag just hang on the outside, like a cape really. Anyway, just drew a picture of it. image.jpg
It will be , hopefully, coming back to me with a bit of plastic stuck above it to stop it from happening again, supposedly to channel the water away.
(If parked on the right angle you won't have a problem.)

A bit of plastic sounds a bit ordinary for a warranty fix, why not a bit of colour matched sail track to act as a gutter? Or have I got the problem wrong ?
