@17triton what is the best way to attach the rope to the awning? Do you attach directly to the barrel? I don't want to damage anything.
I have the guy ropes with the loop on the end and feed the spring and tensioner bit of wood through the loop straight around the barrel and peg down. I once tied a knit around the barrel and it was a nightmare to undo.

@maccayak I saw those clips too but I was a little worried they may put too much pressure on the slot in the awning rail??

Purely simple (much like the man I am), just loop the rope over the barrel and tied down. So simple I am, that I leave all the ropes in the AFK (anti flap kit) and they all ways slip in tie down easy every time.

My thinking is, when away with the van easy as can be is the theme, nothing to complex. Pace.

I'd just be a bit carefull with how much tension you put on the ropes. When you attach the ropes to the barrel (which ever way you choose) it can put stress on the cast aluminium cap/bracket that attaches to the barrel. I have saddle brackets bolted to the arms and then use spring clips on the end of ropes, I have some pics on my thread "Our 18-57-6".
