Burnsy,

One of the benefits of being a sparky, probably the only one. You too can set up two-way switching, wire between the 1 & 2 terminals of each switch, power goes to the common on one switch and from the common on the second switch wire to the light, negative goes to the negative terminal on the light.

Burnsy,

By the way, great idea and job that you've done, all of the ideas I see here seem to get me thinking 'what if' and 'how about', that's what I like about checking out other campers when we're away, the kids get so embarrassed at times when I just walk up to other campers and get chatting and asking questions but I find it's a great ice breaker and you end up making so many new friends, I reckon it's great. Just wish I could find some way of encouraging them to do the same.

I find the after dinner stroll through the caravan park with beer in hand checking out the setups one of my favorite pastimes. More often than not SWMBO has to come looking for me to say goodnight to the kids.

Finally finished the frame for the front of our van. I made some last minute changes and cut the frame off both ends that would carry 2 jerry can holders , it just looked a bit weird as i would normally not have the holders on there. Anyway here is my solution to relocating the spare wheel, it wouldn't fit in between the gas cylinders so they had to be moved out. As you can see i have also mounted another pole carrier on the back with heavy brackets. What i like about this design is it lets you remove as one complete unit, you can have any configuration, then bolt or clamp on without any welding on A frame.
A mate now wants one for his Jayco, one gas bottle and one jerry can holder!

Crossed another mod off the list this weekend, and one I got from here somewhere....a false bottom for the front boot!I made it 120mm high which stores 3 boat rods with reels attached and 2 beach rods on one side and the other has games like totem tennis, cricket set, bocce, kites etc along with the broom and some wheel chocks at other end. It's made more space and the boot is neat and better organized, cost of $120 including cutting pieces to size...... I could of saved $15 for the contact adhesive as I didn't bother to stick the carpet down on top as planned.

Made in 2 pieces to fit through hatch door.

For those with solar panels, found the corners very sharp and nearly tore my van cover when pulling on and off. Went to Clarke Rubber and bought four rubber corner pieces, glued them on and now no trouble of hooking the cover and tearing.

A few more mods done over the weekend, fitted a rear tap which will be handy for filling the top tank in toilet with a short hose (thanks @hamish22 for getting a part from Jayco). Then changed the mains inlet to the rear underneath as others have done. No risk of the plastic fitting leaking inside and no risk of someone tripping over the hose on the side and breaking the plastic click fitting.

Finally moved the front tap to a more useable position. I also went through and placed the red clips in all the internal john guest fittings....just incase! :)

I've gone over the whole van (inside and under) and inserted the clips on all JG fittings, as I didn't want any issues with them. Well worth the peace of mind.

@Burnsy, when I moved the inlet of my water to the rear, I used the white inlet valve that was in the old water housing. From memory it may have been something to do with limiting the pressure. Yours is a bigger van so may have been different to mine.

Hi mate, that plastic click fitting only has a non return valve inside, there is a pressure valve underneath which also has a non return valve inside. As long as the mains inlet goes to the pressure valve first then all the plumbing is protected.
Cheers.

My 18 has the brass non return valve but the 16 didn't. Maybe if you have a HWS it gets the brass non return valve.
