We use the thetford chemicals, lost the battle on no number twos, so females all happy sitting on own toilet when on the road, (stopped for lunch), makes for happy travelling companions, and Wollondilly council putting in 3 dump points, Warragamba, Appin and Picton (trying to catch rv market), so will be able to empty in town.

Where are they putting the dump point in Picton?

Then where does it go? we use to have Septic (Bio Cycle) and it all went to tank other than storm water
Bushman, sorry my mistake. Yes if you have a septic tank on site then grey water would possibly go to this too. But us here in "surburbia" no longer have septic tanks. Hence grey water and sewer are separate. Sewer belongs to sewerage company (we pay them), grey water and town water (another company) we pay.
Yes if you have a septic tank then you cannot put Nappysan down any drain in your house.

HHHHMMM strange arrangement, fortunately we no longer have septic so no problem tipping the dumper down the sewer, all kitchen/bathroom/laundry/toilet etc. goes straight to Sewer, rain/storm water is separate.

The local paper said the one for Picton and Warragamba are still in the 'planning stages'. So we might see it in 5 years time. Best spot would probably be behind the bowling club and Maccas.

With the sewer at Bargo initially they were supposed to build a plant at Caloola Road, Bargo. But because they were contracted to have the sewer completed by July 2014 they thought it easy to pipe it all the way to Picton instead?? If the sewer wasn't completed by then either Council or Sydney Water had to truck it to Picton at their expense.

This thread is already up to 3 pages. We all like to talk sh?t don't we.

@Burnsy , I just looked at that camp. Looks good I'm envious, but it does look like there is toilets there mate. I may well be wrong, but you might not have any issues!
Your right mate, found out last night that it's not where I thought we were going. It's a bit more civilized than I thought but still only $10/night/van :)

Yeah I think my girls would love this, too... might have to look into this one.
Wikicamps have it in the correct spot? Interested but map seems to have it on the road with no room for parking.
Camps 7 doesn't seem to have it listed. Where would I get more info and pics?

I haven't looked for it on WC yet. Sometimes people put the pin at the entrance so you can navigate to it, maybe that's what they've done?

Was thinking that would be a good spot behind Bowlo, { bit of a tight intersection) or at showground, or at Tahmoor Sportsground, will be handy coz we're not on sewerage

@Dede, this seems very strange. I am pretty sure that - Toilet, bathroom and kitchen all go to the sewer system. Some washing machines can be worked so the 'grey' water can go to your lawn. All roof and ground water (from rain) goes to storm water. The reason Kitchen can't be 'grey' water is due to fat or oil.

@Burnsy I've just had a look at Camp Cobark, looks awesome, I've got a little girl who is mad keen on horses and horse riding and this place looks the goods. Can you let us know how it goes on your weekend, I'm really interested, thanks.

When we free camp, we take the post hole driver and dig a deep one and place the oil drum with a plastic dunny seat attached to it and use the shower tent or build a tarped screen. Our friends take their lovely old wooden thunderbox and use it.
Sometimes we have had to dig two as there are a few of us that camp, we did try the number One's and the numbers two's tent separated, it did work, just another extra job to do. Leave the shovel for adding more sand in.
:peace: Happy camping!!

Bring this to the top again, lol, lol, lots of laughs here for sure.
After years of dumping the Dunny on long distance coaches believe me that was not nice to do, smell would kill a dog, yuck, dumping the van cassette and using Thetford solutions is easy as pie, no stink or mess, unless you happen to trip over. Dump it in our septic and it doesn't kill it, thankfully, we have a seperate grey water tank though, no modern eco system here, just your old stinky job.
With free camping for 30 yrs, digging holes is a bloody pain especially if you end up digging up the dead again, happens after rain generally, no kids now so life in that regard is easier, the van can would need emptying every day otherwise.
Ever had a horse give you a sniff while in the sitting position ??? Scares the s....lol,lol.

Using the van toilet with the Thetford chemicals works perfectly. No smell and simple to empty at a dump point or on a toilet.

Can't see the sense buying a toilet and then going outside to dig holes.

We free camped along the Murray River near Echuca a couple if Christmases ago and one spot was a literal minefield of crap and toilet paper.

It was disgusting and a blight on an otherwise beautiful location.

I think if these modern set ups pong your van out then you are doing something wrong. I always give our cassette a good flush and every week or so the housing underneath gets a good wipe out, no icky stuff there, usually just bits of grass, sand etc.

Will point out though if you overfill the can it does have a release vent which will dump a small amount into one of the cavities under the cassette, will hold about a litre, so if you have a pong and you haven't looked inside the cavity, then put a peg on nose, get the gloves and lift the panel, just like cleaning an old nappy bucket.......better yet get the missus.......lol.
