I'm curious, are people choosing to use their chemical toilet for urine only because they don't like the idea of cleaning out the cassette or is there some other reason?

It's not an issue in our van. No odours, no complaints, and it's me that does the emptying of course (not that Mrs XF wouldn't, but cassette can be a bit heavy when full and she's got a crook back).

It's there to use so it gets the 2's but really only when nesesary like free camps/road side comfort stops. If at parks we generally use the amenties, expect for those midnight calls of nature, sometime splurge on ensuite site

Don't recommend 3 ply dunny paper though, it doesnt break down as easy.

To my shame.....we have a "no #2 policy" when there are options to use toilets in the park or stop.
I'm not proud of it.......but if you spend sometime around my two boys you'll understand why....they stink.....so bad it strips paint from walls!!
And the logs they drop are like from giant gum trees....nothin's breakin them things down
You laugh, o yes you'll laugh, but your not the ones with one of my boys monsters rattling around inside the cassette with no way of getting out........

HM :)

Having raised twin boys, I understand. :painkiller: The only good thing is they don't like camping so they don't come with us.

Ours is there to use for whatever and we have had no problem with smells. Hubby does the emptying, just one of those things that has to be done, our friends joke that it is the walk of shame!

....on the last trip the youngest had to go, to my great disappointment on the last day, dropped by a dump point, tipped it up closed my eyes and away it all went, gave it a bit of a flush with fresh water and all good. Got home and thought I would give the cassette a flush out with detergent for storage and what should drop out on my lawn but the biggest Cane Toad without legs you have ever seen, i looked at it for some time working out "what now"......
Gold HM I can picture your face with the WTF look on it!

As one without a crapper in the van I am having a laugh reading this thread. I would vote for the no #2s as I think the whole caravan park would hear me gagging when emptying!
