Well, I love my Ranger. It's a 2014 XLT. I've got a 3" exhaust on it, no cat and had a proper ecu tune done. 12,000kms now. It's actually quite quick with the tune and spins the 285/75's on the change to second - it's an auto. Pulls my van even better.
No complaints here. My previous nissan Navara D40 on the other hand...... What a piece of s. Brand new and nothing but issues it's whole life with me. Spent the last 10 weeks I had it at the dealers with them replacing pretty much everything scratching their heads. Never again nissan.

I ended up goin the bt50, delivery late January. Just couldn't go past the value nearly 6 k cheaper for more kit..... They have some deals going at the moment. Love the look of the ranger, but I slowly getting used to the bt.
In contrast to your d40, I love mine. Have had no dramas in the 5 years 170,000ks has never let me down, but It does struggle a bit towing the 20.63 especially the manual. Auto for me this time going to miss her though
HaHa same with me, I went the bt because it was 5k cheaper. While the ranger front end does look better I put a roo bar on any way which hides the odd shaped grill.
I have heard so much about this turbo lag but have never felt it.
What I do fell is when taking off quickly is the auto start to take off in second then decide to go back to first and then rocket off. Its realy bad when rolling up to a intersection, roll up to slow and it down shifts giving you that lag feeling roll up quicker and it holds seconds and takes off
