Well! if your a Ford person and Love your Ranger, but prefer or need a wagon, this one could be for you, Ford at times may seem a little backward in coming forward, but I reckon when this one comes out it will throw the cat among the pigeons so to speak. So hello to the Everest.

@bigcol the 5cyl diesel is very very good..... In my opinion anyway!

Early days for mine yet, but the torque delivery is fantastic and they pull well through the rev range. Poles apart in comparison to my current Prado and my MN Triton that the Ranger replaced.

We have a couple PX Rangers in my family circle, one regularly tows a 2.5 tonne boat, and it does it easily.

I thought the engine was developed by Citroen, Peugeot and Ford under some form of JV.

I could be totally wrong though @Bushman !!!

hmmm too little too late? with the rumour mill in overdrive of a long awaited hilux/Prado overhaul, we toyota-men are staunch on the v6 diesel release which is much overdue..

however if I was to buy another brand... ford would probably take my second vote if they can better the jeep... (once they release their 7 seater).. our BA 04 xr6 turbo was twice or thrice the car which our VZ Commy and 08 rodeo was, in reliability, quality, comfort and performance!

hmmmmmm

Already thinking of that towball weight on the new van @Bushman ?

Looks good and given it's largely ranger it shouldn't take too long to settle down and be a reliable performer.

Yep @blacky you are 100% right...

But.... There is not much on the new car market these days that doesn't have just as much tech if not more. At least if you want a degree of creature comfort in the vehicle that is!

I've been waiting for the new V6 Prado myself and when it comes it will be no different, lots of tech. Only saving grace is their dealer network if you ever have a problem!!

is it true they are bringing out the V6 diesel.......?
I also heard a rumour ages ago - but I also heard the one about the Patrols getting the V6 550Nm Diesel as well..........

That's the very strong rumour @bigcol

There are various versions of the rumour mind you, and they have been circulating for a good while now, but many are pretty consistent in saying a new V6 possibly twin turbo charged is on the way. 2016 or 2017 launch date has been mentioned in some articles I have seen.

And yep.....I'm willing these rumours to be true!!!!!!!

I don't think they fitted enough buttons on the steering wheel! It should sell well. We used to have a Ford person on here but he doesn't seem to come online anymore (soaring).

The big diesel might be okay but oohh all those electrics scare me when out bush. I think I will go back to a 100 series.

@bigcol I've only done 100, 000 ks in my Ranger and the 5cyl is awesome so far.
@Bushman the 3.2 is a ford psa product i believe.
As for the electrics, EVERY new vehicle has em, the simple old days are gone.
Also anyone waiting for Toyotas new drivetrains may be disappointed from what I can find on Google.

Yep your right but then as I work on my gear I do like a lot of the electronic stuff makes life easier but some is just gimic crap which is all well and good but can shut down the whole show if it has a dirty connection, like O2 sensors or other BS environmental sensors which may be great stuff in the city but makes it hell on earth out back O' Bourke.

My Jeep has 250,000k on the clock and I know it back to front but a bit of crap in a right/wrong connector will shut it down, engine running fine but stupid brain doesn't know it which I suppose is good but when you require a dealer to clear the code or someone with the special code reader as they don't all read the non OBDII codes, then " we have a problem Houston" and that applies to all makes .
Anyway my next choice will be a Ranger dual cab, a dual cab Defender would be nice but I need a bigger Lotto win. A nice tidy 100 or 76 series would be nice but I would spend a fortune on it and weeks in the shed when I could be fishing.
