Thank god haha I was going on a witch hunt down at my local Toyota dealer!

I did hear rumours a few weeks back about a V6 diesel in R&D stages to be put into Prado and hilux... along with towing upgrade... that got me a little excited :)

Here's hoping mate.... I'll be lining up......They need to do something or they will keep losing sales to Jeep.

I know you have a Prado, but I went with the TJM bar (colour matched) for the LC200 - really happy with all their kit. Does not sit as far forward as the ARB bar either.

The TJM was a full bar replacement, none of the original plastic bumper kept, so the ARB salesman could be full of it. They simply undo the existing LC200 plastic bumper and bolt on the new TJM bar. There is a small amount of plastic included on the TJM around the lights, but easier to have a bit of plastic contour with the lights, rather that try to bend metal! No cutting plastic bumpers and stuffing about like the ARB option. I have the bumper in the shed in one piece, so if I want to remove the bar in the future it is no problems, or I can sell the plastic bumper and suspension bits online to recoup a bit of coin.

Salesman at Toyota dealer told me the same thing - just not sure when the release date is.

Still - very happy and sticking with the LC200 as the van is only 60KG less than Prado's towing capacity.

Cheers,

When I was talking to ARB about getting my new bar, they made a point of telling me that it's an ADR requirement to maintain a certain % of the plastic bar. When you look at the australian bars TJM, ARB etc they all keep the top of the original plastic bar, so maybe there was some truth in what he was telling me.
The AFN bar looks to completely replace all of the front end plastic, so it may not be compliant.

Of topic, but what a croc ! So every prado 120 on the road with an ARB bar is non compliant?

The genuine Toyota Sovereign bullbar for the 120 was a full replacement too!

I had an ARB on my pre-facelift 150 Prado. Never again. A lot of shadowing around the lights which you don't get with the TJM as it follows to bonnet lines with the side protection bars around the headlights. Also had continual issues with the indicators and park lights in the bar. Seemed to be fixing dodgy connections every few weeks!

The other thing I dislike about the ARB bar is that they look EXACTLY the same on every single car they are fitted to! The TJM varies a fair bit from model to model.

Isn't 3 enough choice when it comes to Jeep bullbars?
ARB, Uneek4x4 and ECB ( although ECB is an over bar cover, not a replacement bar.

Not ECB, that looks crap, but the Uneek one I quite like, much more so than the ARB clone.
If I was to get a front bar it would be the Uneek one colour coded to my car with just the bolt on centre hoop.

The ARB one doesn't even have any recovery points on it FFS, pretty pointless really

its a Jeep FFS when would it need recovering?? It does have 2 tow hooks though which should do okay I just want it for protection
