17' Series New Jayco Bed End Covers!

If anyone is after some clear or vinyl ones try australiawide annexes.
I emailed the WA Rep last night with a photo of the Jayco ones attached asking if they still do them (Used to be on their website but not any longer).

Got a call from him this afternoon saying they no longer do them because of the cost (If wanting windows, screens etc). He said that they are an overkill for just keeping the rain out but "Tongue in cheek" the Jayco RRP is reasonable for "Chinese!!!!!!!!!" made ones :kev:

They will do clear plastic bed ends for $210 each end and vinyl ones for approximately $30 extra each.

Still unsure which way to go... So still waiting to have a look at the Jayco ones for quality before deciding to "Go for them" or try another local and go custom made.... SWMBO'd likes the look of the canvas ones (Looking for a "Thumbprint on the Forehead smiley) :yo:

I reckon you right @dagree and I too prefer the vinyl ones.
Easer to keep clean and the dampness shouldn't affect the vinyl either. Best of all they will protect the canvas bed end's as well.

Another thing to consider @dagree is the vinyl or canvas ones will help make the ends a bit darker in the morning as opposed to the clear.

i checked all the different ones out and went for the kakado ones, they quality seems better, they dont hold moisture. very good quality unit, a little over priced, but i think you get what you pay for.

Phew! What a discussion ...

We bought our van from Caravanland in WA in January this year and have done only 1 weekend away where it has rained. I noticed the privacy screens did a pretty good job at keeping the rain at bay, and we had no wet bedding, but the inside of the canvas WAS wet on the last day when we packed up. At around $800, we can't afford rain screens right now, but we are going to Busselton tomorrow for the weekend and it is forecasted to rain ... of course ... so I think I'll try the pool noodle idea PLUS we have a couple of 'floor rolls' (like swag mats) and I might pop them at the end of the beds too. I'll keep my eye on here though ... interesting to see how other people go with their experience.

I hope Jayco get their act together some time soon with these bed end covers. I made a pair a couple of weeks ago of clear plastic and press studs. Currently in Albany and we got hit with gale force winds and so much rain I thought Noah was going to turn up in his big boat. My home made efforts sort of stood up to the rain but not the winds. Up in the middle of the night grovelling in the slushy ground trying to tie the plastic down . After last night I will gladly pay whatever for a decent set of covers. As soon as we in Wait Awhile state have them available I am off to Caravanland or any other maker after last night.

We have never had any trouble with ours getting wet either, but do like the look of these ends as I think that maybe they would provide another layer of insulation in the cold weather! Just wondering if everyone who are getting wet bed ends have weathered their canvas from new?

As soon as we in Wait Awhile state have them available I am off to Caravanland or any other maker after last night.

Give them a call on Friday @jandl ... They told me a delivery left the factory last Thursday and should be here by the end of this week!

Well had a bit of free time between jobs this afternoon and called into a few local annex manufacturers to talk about what we wanted and get their ideas on best type of material etc...
General consensus was to go with either Vinyl or PVC for ease of drying and cleaning and better water proofing. 3 out of 4 of them said using canvas was defeating the purpose as they would soak in water the same as the fitted bed ends.
Some would do windows some won't as they say "not needed".

Amazing how the prices differed... Most expensive was $595 per end (supply only) for clear or PVC with no windows fitted but zips fitted on corners so each wall could be rolled up if needed. Best was $440 per end fitted for vinyl supplied with all the same options as shown on the Jayco canvas ones..... Screen/clear/solid windows and colour matched to our existing annex walls (Happy Wife happy life !!!!!!) And they showed me through the factory to see some of their work in progress.

Going to think about it for a couple of days and once the mind is made up I'll be calling and booking the van in next week!!!!
