After having the van for a few months I have at last started the mods. Work and house renovations were in the way and the pile of "caravan stuff" in the lounge room grew to such a proportion I had to start installing them to reclaim part of the room back.
First up was the wardrobe shelves because my boardies, T-shirts and tracky dacks do not need hanging space. The Rubbermaid Slide and Stacks idea is @Lara's I believe, so thank you.

We wanted to set up the van for a lot of free camping so the electrical situation needed attention. The van is a new 2013 model sitting in Caravanland's yard( as mentioned in an earlier post I was looking at bathroom tiles and fittings and bought a van without knowing about this forum, "oops" )with no battery installed, just the wiring. I had trawled all over this forum since copying pics and a lot of "how to" from peoples experiences to come up with what I believe suits my family's requirements. I came up with the following:
130W Fixed solar panel (no reg, solar diodes to drop voltage below 22V on order)on the roof, not installed yet due to Perth's rain(hard to believe) last week, wiring connected to Ctek.
220W Folding solar panel to be connected to the Red anderson plug (@jvp and @ROnEM ideas) fitted to the side of the van when the regulator is bypassed. I am leaving the reg on the panel and fitting it with a blue anderson plug as eventually I will install another battery in the back of the Pathfinder to power the future fridge so I want to be able to use the fold up panel when I do not have the van attached.
2500W Inverter to be wired to three coloured GPO's for ease of identification for the family to understand which GPO's can and can not be used when free camping. GPO's not installed yet, ran out of time.
Two 120AH AGM batteries. I had to modify the large box that covered the Setec to fit them in. A lot of wasted space and I followed the advice from @daznmel, not very enjoyable upside down with a torch and a drill in the small vent cover space. Glad I was home alone as the odd bit of colorful language was expressed. The cat learnt some new words and was probably wondering who I was talking to.
A Cetek 250S Dual
A Cetek Smartpass, hoping this could back charge the future second battery in the Pathy and to give a greater charge rate to the house batteries when required. A lot of the wiring ideas I 'borrowed' from
@ROnEM so thank you for posting your wiring diagrams.
I can not understand what Jayco were thinking bringing in the water from outside into the electrical area and then out again to the sink next to it. I have fitted the inverter and Cteks onto pieces of 25x18 wood to raise them off the floor in case of a water leak. Future mod is to put some kind of splash guard between pipe fittings and the inverter and electrical items and a small drain hole in the area so at least it would leak into the van and I would notice it if I did had a leak. Hose clamps and John Guest fittings lock rings to go onto any fitting that does not have these fitted to be done.
IMG_0385.JPG IMG_0381.JPG IMG_0390.JPG IMG_0391.JPG
An LCD water tank gauge and sendor probe for two tanks, only one installed at this stage.
A BM-1 battery monitor, love this gadget :)
IMG_0388.JPG
A 6B&S twin core cable from the anderson plug on the Pathy to the Ctek in the van.

Unfortunately as my van was purchased from the yard it has the standard payload limit of 300kgs and I have used a portion of that with the mods. I am in the preliminary stages of investigating what I have to do to increase the payload limit. Possibly higher rated axle, brakes, tyres and shocks but that is in the future as we are not planning any extended trips away for a while.
Hopefully I have acknowledged all the people whose ideas I blatantly stole and apologies to any one else I have not mentioned.

Cheers

Larry

Looks like you've been busy @jandl ... Keep the updates coming.
Been in the same boat as you in regard to work, reno's and landscaping getting in the way.
Going to have a break from them over the weekend and get a few additions done on the expanda.

It might be easier to take the mains water out of there. A few of us have relocated the water and made the inlet down the back of the van near the drain. You can keep the tank filler there as that's not normally a problem. Pretty easy to do.

Nice job mate, and yeah good to see you acknowledged the payload, was wondering as I was reading. I bought our Expanda with the two batteries to get them into the vans Tare, at 30kg each they chew it up. 50mm axle set with 12" brakes and 7 lead springs is good for 2t.

Jayco bring the water that way to go over chassis member, but as macca said just re route the pressure hose and leave the tank fillers there. Only trouble I have ever had flooding the van was on the pressure line. You then get away from having to only use that stupid plastic hatch to fill the tanks.

Hopefully @dagree you will get better weather than I had last week when I was "modding". It has hardly rained in Perth for what seems years and does so when I want to play with my new toy. Even had to cancel a night at Dwellingup because of last Saturdays storms.
Thanks @achjimmyand @macca for the idea of rerouting the water, definitely will investigate it and also the specs to get the van up to 2t. That's just the info I was after.
Cheers

I would be interested in seeing how you go getting your specs upgraded. I will be moving the water on my current van for two reasons!
1/ I don't want water running back into the van.
2/ The water inlet is under the slide out, such a pain.
I will use sharkbite pipe, it is just like John Guest pipe which is similar/same as what Jayco use, its just a bigger size so you don't get the pressure drop. Joins exactly the same way just more rugged. I will be doing mine within the next two weeks so I will post it under "my Jayco". In fact Bunnings sell a similar version as well but they call it something different.

Another week home and more mods completed.
Solar Panel on the roof. Fortunate as the open circuit voltage of the panel is 21.6V so below 22V required for the Cetek.
20140605_154203.jpg 20140604_150056.jpg The cheapo Jayco J/B that had water in it when I opened the cover.
A couple of different coloured GPO's to distinguish inverter use only, keep it simple for the family.
IMG_0406.JPG IMG_0407.JPG
An anderson plug for the portable solar panel connection.
IMG_0405.JPG
Good news on the upgrade is the van already has a 2T axle. Possibly also 9 leaf springs which will do 2 tonnes. I don't know anything about springs but I counted 9 leaves. Further follow up required on that one. The markings on the tyres are interesting, I believe a rating of 109 and above is required for the upgrade and the tyres are marked 235/75/15 110/107S. 110 is good and 107 is for 975kg. Does anybody know what 110/107 marking is? Still investigating the brakes.

Picked up a metal box the same as @dagree's, unfortunately will not have time to install it this break as we are going to Dwellingup for our first free camping trial.

Still busy busy busy @jandl ;) Looking good.
Can't help with the tyre markings but there is sure to be someone on here that can.

Enjoy the trip to Dwellingup. Gotta get back down that way one weekend to try ours out for it's first free camping trial.

The way you're going you'll be glad to get back to work for R&R

@jandl get the part numbers of your springs and axels and go to trailer parts website below to work out what your springs are rated at >>>>>
http://www.trailerparts.net.au

As for the tyres I am not sure bud but I assume someone here will be able to help you out with that info. If not just ring Greens Tyres in Wanneroo and those guys should help you out with that info there usually really helpful.

Thanks for help, this is why I find this forum invaluable for me as I know very little about not a lot and am learning all time. 3 months ago I didn't know anything about caravan payloads etc and now getting my head around it. Good news it looks like my three tyres are good for the upgrade, thanks

Received a from call from Nick (great person to deal with) from Caravanland this afternoon and good news in that Jayco have agreed to raise the ATM to 1990kgs so that now gives me 400kgs of payload which was what I was hoping for. I guess the appropriate parts were already 2T rated when the van was built. The old label has to go to Jayco before they issue me with another and then off to licensing to get the registration changed. Not sure what that entails but this exercise has been worth it to get the payload increased because I added approximately 90kgs with the mods I have done. I think two batteries in an outback version of an Expanda being factory fitted as standard with that additional cost would not deter any buyers.

Last weekend I was home we did an over night at Lane Pool Reserve just out of Dwellingup and it went very well, even used the microwave to defrost the steaks that I had left in the freezer. The BM-1 is a very handy gadget to check what is going on with the power. Didn't help that the morning was very overcast and we were surrounded by pine trees, at least the solar panel on the roof was trying to charge the system. We also had the dinette converted to a bed when we purchased the panda and my 5ft 9" stepson slept on it at a bit of angle and according to him he slept well. So another thing ticked off that works.
IMG_0438.JPG IMG_0440.JPG IMG_0442.JPG
Back from work shortly and a pressing mod is the bed end covers that I am attempting with 3mm plastic from spotlight. Nothing fancy at this stage but I gather what others have done its works well and if it keeps me dry and more importantly warm then I and the family will be happy:encouragement: Unfortunately no time to move the spare wheel and put the box on this break:(.

Agree about Nick being great to deal with... When he's not running around the yard chasing sales ;)
Good to hear they were able to help with the upgrade. Looks like you're going to be busy next break!!

Finally had a sunny day and time to make my bed ends. Did the cheap version with plastic from spotlight and studs from ebay. I am going down south for six days in a couple of weeks so weather protection was a must. Hopefully if the weather is cold it may keep us a bit warmer but time will tell. We really just wanted a dry bed. Roughly $150 all up and about four hours to make them.

Still got the front box to fit and move the spare to the rear but house renovations have taken priority :(.
