Well i picked up the new tow rig yesterday.

First impressions - its big, bigger than i remembered, but i kind of like that. It drive so smoothly and it has lots of bells and whistles i need to get used to. The seats are very comfortable and i am loving the grunt when i press the loud pedal.

Came with Towbar, rear recovery points, tint, snorkel, rubber mats and weather sheilds. ARB bullbar also part of the deal though still a few weeks away. Currently deciding beteewn a canopy (4-6 week wait) or a Blueys roller top. I had a roller top on my old VS ute and it was very versatile.

Not many pics yet but here is a teaser.

Awesome mate and nice colour choice :first: It must be the month for new cars

I bet it will tow the Expanda like a dream

You'll have to head back to the High Country to test it out. :boink:

Congrats, I am looking forward to when we take delivery of ours, but alas, this is still a week to a week and half away. Waiting for the canopy to rock up, bull bar won't be until mid/end July. But I am happy to wait as it is the new TJM bar built and designed to be a bumper replacement bar.

Have fun, don't get it too dirty yet.

Thanks guys, yeah thinking the canopy with lift up windows will be the go.

Looking forward to towing with it (and giving the factory rear locker a test off road too).

It will be hard to part with Patrol, it has been a great car to me, i would love to keep it as my play thing, if only i were a rich man:hat:

A whisper............i rang you and practically yelled down the phone, this thing is a weapon off road!

Never had a car with wiz bang off road gismo's before, but i think i can get used to it. I don't have many photos of me though, i was having too much fun driving.

A few things i like about the BT - Diff lock, hill decent control, LOW down torque, sports shift in the auto, comfort to the max............did i mention diff lock:smokin:

I did the track from Sunny Corner through Dark Corner then on to Capertee. Its from the 4wd treks close to sydney book. I went with a few mates and a few guys from the myswag forum. Bit of a last minute thing, always love those sort of trips. There was about a dozen river crossings lots of wet clay, hill climbs and a winch recovery of one of the vehicles. All good fun.

Got to love a Weber Q lunch!

I followed this guy for about 15min on the way down the mountain, it was like being a kid again, i was so excited!

After about 12 hrs behind the wheel, 6 hrs of that in low range, my fuel consumption on the trip computer read 8.8L/100km. Pretty damn good in my book!

Next week i tow the van for the first time, i have no doubt it will do it with ease after this weekend.

Yep it was a great day out. I have heaps of photos and video of the 5 other 4wds on the trip, but nothing of mine LOL.

I can say the Cooper AT3's i have on the BT are great. In the short time i have had them i have been very impressed.

I have had the BT for a few months now, and so far it has been a great combo work/holiday vehicle.

The ARB bullbar has been on for a while, and alll the electrical is done. Dual battery, anderson plug to van, Narva Spotties, Uniden compact UHF, reverse camera.

The fuel economy is very impressive for such a large car (much longer than my old Patrol), i generally avverage around 8.8L/100km mixed H'way and City driving during the week. Did a few highway only days and had it down to around 7.5L/100km, though i am a bit heavy on the right boot now to rplicate that again.

Been away a few times now towing the Expanda and the fuel econmy is good there too, usually around 12.8L/100km, but as high as 14 on a trip in very windy conditions. But even that is pretty damn good in my book.

Over all i am very happy with it, with my only gripe so far being the shocks are valved way too stiffly for my liking and a suspension upgrade is on the cards, just waiting for Tough Dog to release their options.

Here are a few photos:

All hitched up ready to go, very stable towing, noticeably more stable than the Patrol.

UHF and Brake controller mounted out of the way nicely.

Oops moment on my mates farm. At's and diff locks were no match for the swampy mud LOL.

Poser flex shot with the standard setup so far (check out the factory fitted recovery points on the tow bar!)
