Kenshi's 16.49.1B Outback - photo!!!!

G'day all,

I have been a member of this forum for a while and have enjoyed many a read and the occasional post.
I am very, (and I mean VERY:biggrin:) excited as the wife and I have just signed for a 2013 16.49.1B O/B due in April/May.

A big thank you to everyone on this forum as we were able to see how everyone had optioned their expandas and derived our list from that.

So, now the countdown begins.
I look forward to sharing the journey of Expanda-ism with you guys.

Cheers,

Ryan

Well done Kenshi. The forum has pointed a lot of people in the right direction for choosing their new Expanda so now the wait begins. What options did you order and what mods do you have planned?

Thanks mate. The options we ended up with are as follows. This list was torn up and rewritten a million times.

- roof a/c (Truma model now)
- 150L fridge (rm2553)
- wind up antenna
- external antenna point
- hot water service and external shower
- 100a/h battery
- control panel
- extended A frame with jockey wheel mounted to centre
- extra double power point under dinette
- extra gas bottle
- gas bayonet (std)
- extra water tank
- external picnic table
- privacy screens
- drop jacks (std)
- partridge in proverbial pair tree

As far as mods go...I am not the handiest person in the world...but I am looking at beginning with awning clothes line and some shelves to the robe.
LEDs are standard now, so I don't need to do that one.
I have picked up some great ideas for mods from this forum.

Cheers.

Thanks mate. I am planning a half lap when my first lot of long service comes around (2015).

We try to get away 3 or 4 times a year for a week or two and then throw in weekend trips when we can. I am keen to free camp in the expanda.

Haha. Thanks mate. I blame (thank?) this forum really. The more I read the more SWMBO and I would discuss options and extras mate.

Hi mate. Yeah it will have the black plate. Outside decals aren't changing according to salesman. I have emailed jayco and asked if they have a prototype photo of the expanda or any of the new cushion colours.
The dealer said that the factory only went back to work this week, so I don't know if they have any yet. Am taking SWMBO back to the dealer on Saturday to pick colours.

Well done Ryan, so where is the maiden voyage going to be ?

Hi mate. Not sure yet. Lake bolac is an hour away, so might head there. I caught a half decent (for me) rainbow trout there last year, so i might fo and search for her brother. I was thinking of testing the free camp at mt Franklin out too, which isn't that far either.

G'day all,

We (or should I say SWMBO) chose the colours and signed on the dotted line today.

There was a sterling in the yard that had the colours that we wanted, so that helped with the decision.
Delivery is expected in April and we are hoping to have the shakedown later that month.

We actually liked some of the bench top colours from last year but they are no longer stocking them. SWMBO was happy in the end, so I suppose that is the most important thing.

Here are some photos of the colours

We also got a copy of the floor plan with the changes/options that we ordered.
I requested the control panel and battery switch to be placed above the bench and the sales lady was not sure if this could be done. She said that she would request it though, so I guess we will just wait and see.

Cheers!

Hi Kenshi,

We're in the same boat as you retarding the exterior colors - We've ordered sight unseen! BUSTING to see a pic at least. Jayco via their FB page told me that the decals on the outside are the same design as last year but black and grey. That makes me think it will look like the Sterling's from last year which looked pretty good. Apparently they'll be photographing them next week, so hopefully some pics will emerge.

We're weighing up between that fabric and also the other blue & white one. Which floor did you go with?

Cheers,
ROb

G'day Rob. We went with the bamboo floor. I know the blue and white one that you mean, that was another one that seemed nice.

I agree about the sterlings too. They looked great. I emailed jayco asking about pics but they were none too forthcoming. Hope to see some soon.

Hi Kenshi123, whats the sample for in second pic? Is it bench top?

Hey mate. Yeah it is the bench top. We were going to go with the griege, which we had in our eagle, but SWMBO saw that benchtop in the sterling today and was sold on it.

Cheers.

Very nice.
This has got the makings of a nice van Ryan.
Did you happen to ask why the AC brand has changed?

G'day Brad. Yeah I did ask mate. The reason given was that the Truma model is a little more powerful (2.4Kw as opposed to 2.2Kw?) and a little quieter.
