Very nice job, HtR. A bit more time at home for more mods before you head off but it is sure a bad way to get it. I hope your wife is on the mend and you can get going soon. Take care of her.

i have put a square section of dura gal under draw bar directly below cradle and then put bolts through cradle and down through steel!
effectivly clamping the cradle tchassis draw bar, hope that makes sense !

Yep, I did see that rhs section and thought that's what you might of done, good idea. I'm sure that will be fine as it really can't slide back or forward.....again well thought out and no holes in draw bar :)

Hey HTR, hows the trip going? after moving your gas bottles and installing your toolbox. Are there any retro fittings or minor adjustments you'd do. I'm thinking of getting the dual gas bottles mounted forward of the spare wheel from factory... so I could put a toolbox behind. What's your thoughts on that idea after going thru it yourself. Wehard just sold our 16.49 andteHarare planning out that rig now.
Thanks.

Giday Fb
we haven't left yet!
wife has been quite ill so have had to at least delay for a month or so! (bugger)
took van for first trip away to Bright for Easter and all was terrific, wouldn't change anything at this early stage except in future i plan to put a wind up spare wheel jack so that spare wheel can be lowered from underneath.
I'm not sure jayco will change possy of gas-bottles for you! the dealer said no to me but i feel it could just be the person you get on the day maybe.
It was alot of mucking around to do but i am really pleased with the result, and couldn't imagine not having the box for storage on front. brad did virtually the same thing so check his thread out as that's the one i based mine on, thought his was the best of the ones i had seen! (thanks again Brad if your out there)
make sure you get extended draw bar also
good luck either way and let me know if you need any help
Pete

Hope is all well with your wife.

Yes we pretty much have the list all set. One fella on this forum suggested a few extra lights like under bnk over small table and over the sink. The rest we had already sussed out from the last expanda. All the hindsight things. I guess had we done it right from go with the first one we probably wouldnt be buying another. But After a few longer trips you get sick of a few things here and there which prompt plans for 'the next one' lol.

You know it's a shame jayco haven't seen the money to be made with factory fitted toolboxes (front or rear) there definately an untapped Market.
Thanks pete.

Finally got round to updating some works and our situation!
well we are about to head off in a couple more weeks (at last)
wife still not great, but improving so we thought we"d leave anyhow and see how we go!
here are some of the latest works done and i think i am actualy about finished all i wanted too
1-Made up some vinyl covers that valcro over vents for when we hit the dirt roads to stop all the dust!
2-Mounted ladder underneath van for easy use when needed
3-Mounted 2 x pole carriers front and rear to hold AFP and curved awning poles (oops no photo yet)
4-Protected all i could under van from stones and wrapped any cables i could into flexible conduit
Heaps of other bits and pieces all over the place, think we are ready to roll!
Have a minor issue with water pump not priming tap properly to sort out when i can!
keep having to pump the hand tap to get it to prime, then when you wait 10 min, have to do it again!!!!
may need a non return valve or something im thinking????

Looking good HTR hope the boss improves mate. Just a query will blocking the fridge vents effect the efficiency of it to much?

Love it all HTR, very neat work indeed! You must be getting excited now, not long to go. Hope the wife is feeling better soon, been sick for a while now, not good. Hope the upcoming trip is giving her something to look forward to and is putting a smile on her face!
Can I ask, do you need to travel within a certain distance of doctors etc for her, or are you free to travel far and wide?

Today ttriton
we will only use the vent covers on dusty dirt roads and then we would turn off fridge while driving
your right it would cause probs otherwise.
cheers

Hi Lara
Thanks for the note, she has been diagnosed with a type of viral arthritis!
still don't know much about it ! She says its like having chronic fatigue, and joints are always aching
specialist says its ok to go but must keep seing docs on way round to monitor her and try to get meds right
just hoping it comes good for her as no energy, and won't be doing too much sightseeing if stays as is
worst scenario, we turn around and come home if she's not enjoying it!
take care

Must be incredibly difficult for her, but for you also, especially with young children to look after.
Fingers crossed this will be good for her. At least she won't have the pressures of the day to day running of a house and all the chores and stresses that can come with it. The trip can give her a good dose if R&R to look after herself and get the rest she needs to recover. And like you said there's always the option of coming home.
Good luck with it HTR, tell your Wife I'm thinking of her and hope she feeling better soon!
