This post inspired me to check our Honda 20i. After a couple of no starts, it fired up beautifully (don't think we've used it since 2012, or even fired it up).
Plugged it into the van and turned the aircon on.........no problems at all. Very happy camper here! (Now just need the box for it)

We are the same.... Started mine last weekend after about it sitting for 18 months! Had previously drained the fuel so had to put some in. Will get some new oil for it hopefully at the show next weekend to change (even though probably only had about 10 hours run time on the lot in there), just to make sure is clean.
May even look at replacing the spark plug.
Runs our Herron 2.2 air con no worries on cold - did manage to have it running the heater as well but she was at max power (as is an element not reverse cycle) so won't use it for heat unless NO other choice.

If you rarely use it, its a good idea to either drain the fuel, or use a fuel stabiliser to stop the fuel going off

That I agree with!

Ours sat idle for a while, then thought we'd better check it.

Did the usual...checked plug, drained and replaced the fuel and fought with it till we got it going. Then we felt cuffed, thought all was ok till we really needed it when we lost power after the 2011 floods......no power for over a week.

Use the generator, we thought, it's been checked recently.

Unfortunately, it was almost under water so stuffed.

We still haven't replaced it...we were right royally peeved. Now, in blackouts, we cook with gas, give up on the freezers and use batteries for lights.

Been a bit slack lately as the Honda is buried in the back of ute and the other one is buried in my daughters shed but they used to get run for 15min every month............I really should give the Honda a crank up .

Go to GAP Generators web site. They have a cracker of a deal on a Subaru powered 2.7kva 5 year warranty inverter and a Briggs and Stratton Powerboss inverter. Both are bigger than Honda's EU20i in output and offer exceptional value being almost half the price. Www.gapgenerators.com.au
