That looks awesome @rojoberry, not sure about your top bunk but ours has a limit of 70kg and Jayco would not do inner spring as it adds to the weight.....maybe something to keep in mind.
Cheers.

Thanks I didn't think of that however would only use the standard thickness of 140mm not a lot of weight and the two young ones share the bunks it's only thought at this stage, one I have get a cost and then past the MOW (Minister Of War)

The mattress's were $200 the pair and no it doesn't make it to heavy but is heavier than the original, I could have had them thinner they are higher up the water proof area surrounding the bed end canvas which isn't an issue for us as we have full water proof bed ends.

Hi jvp. Gavin was partly correct; it is a weber cover but no weber hiding underneath. Its a mod suggested by my wife's cousin when I was a very new van only and very naive. In hindsight, it probably was not a good mod due to the negative effect it could have on towball weight. It's a mod to carry the spare wheel vertically mounted and also to carry a bike rack for a couple of bikes. Haven't used it for bikes yet. Thinking now it could be a good place to locate a flat surface to sit a small BBQ. Will take a photo and post it when I can.

Cheers.

Took a while but here are a couple of photos of the mod for a bike rack.

Battery Access --- My battery lives in the bottom of a cupboard on our 14-4-3 and is a big pain to get to when the van is in the shed as I need the roof up to open the cupboard door. Has anyone fitted an external door so entry can be gained from outside ?? I suppose Camec does doors to fit. Haven't done any research just had the idea while fixing my brush cutter.

I am sure mine is under the main lounge seat, behind the drawer. 14.44-5 OB. Need to lift the seat up to access it.

I suppose moving it is another idea, I'll have to look at it, a hole in a panel and the wiring as is would probably reach as well, a good option to look at and save $$$ and cutting a hole in the wall.

If you do find a way I would be very interested, having the same model and the same problem.

Had a quick look today, it looks doable to put the battery under the seat but it has to wait as I'm doing the Mark III version of my stone guard, first 2 didn't quite make the grade. Thinking I will box the section in a bit and line it with rubber or plastic as I have had battery acid in the battery box before, probably from my very steep driveway. Should be able to get to it in a week or so, might have to do some beach fishing for a few days.

I have an AGM battery so acid leak is not a problem, but I don't really want to put it under the seat as that space is already used for storage of our gum boots plus a few other odds and sods. I may have to modify my wardrobe shelving to make it easier to get to the battery.

Where do you go for your beach fishing?

Usually at a Beach were the fish have just left, normally Teewah, Double Island but next week may end up at Red Rock, NSW if I can get the boss motivated, never fished there before so might be lucky. Damn will have to get a permit......bugga.

It's only no access to battery when the roof is down that annoys me so it's move the battery or raise the shed a metre.....decisions,decisions.

Moved the battery to under the seat and I didn't have to extend the wiring just poke it thru the hole into the other compartment. Plenty of room under the seat but really only able to fit one battery box in, access problems, well you could just not put the box lids on and it would be good, if I go to 2 batteries I will use AGM jobs and do away with the plastic box and make a rack set up to hold them but ATM one battery, 80Watt solar panel and a Honda genny covers all the bases. Didn't do photo's as a black box under a seat isn't all that amazing.
While I was at it I replaced the connectors and soldered the new ones, the original jobs were ordinary. Next up will be a grey water tank using some 8"poly pipe gonna be better than a tank I think.
Still haven't got away since the repair job, have to hang around for the new g/son to clock up a few weeks, so just keep doing things to the rig........but getting toey.

Have some pics here: http://www.expandasdownunder.com/threads/drovers-14-44-3.4502/page-2

Through the wall one for the TV and the other for VAST the original TV plug is still there on the other side of the van but is a waste of space due to the huge amount of lead loss of the cable running from one side of the van to the other

From the inside through one of those desktop plastic cable thingos from the hardware store

Then it just sits on a shelf in the cupboard the VAST box and the TV both run off the 600w Inverter stuck to the back wall of the cupboard through a plug in RCD and 4 outlet power board so they can be used off 12v as well

So you don't move your Tv outside? I was thinking of having a hdmi connection outside so all I have to do is move the tv and leave everything in place. Changing stations may be a challenge but that another project. The issue is that I can't find anything to protect the hdmi plug outside from dust/ water.

Nah TV is only a last resort for crappy weather, If we're away in footy season and want to watch the Game there is usually someone else with us that can plug a telly in outside
Ps or if the Daughter really has to watch Home & Away then she is better off inside with the door shut so I don't have to listen to it:becky:
