Just had an unexpected call from Jayco Sydney telling me that our van has arrived at the dealership, getting excited to see it and pick it up early next week - roll on the 21.64-1 OB

The obvious other one to consider is the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

We tow our 21.64.1OB with a Jeep Grand Cherokee, without any issues.

We were towing with a GU Patrol which towed easy but just brought a new jeep grand cherokee which does it easier.

200 series, they can be picked up at a good price now. great rig, heaps of space and seats, also great roof max weights. long range with dual tanks is a bonus. we have increased our tank capacity to 270 ltrs now.

Thanks guys, did not think to consider the Jeep. Our Expanda will have 3 water tanks and a few extras. The name plate weight on the brochure is 2570kg, but that is taken with no deep cycle battery or full twin gas cylinders. So 2570kg plus 3 water tanks 255kg, add the batt/gas 50kg then our personel payload of food/clothing/bedding/equipment and you are looking at another 300kgs. We are looking like we will be towing 3200kgs in some instances when leaving towns to free camp. If anyone has towed and pulled this weight over sandy beaches to remote spots and i mean remote spots please confirm your vehicles capability. Cheers

ours has twin air cons, and many more add ons. the weight is around 3200kg total, but we also had the payload increased to 650kg, which helps when carrying extra water, so consider this as you will have 3 tanks, you will need the extra payload capacity.

2 trips with the panda so far - 22 and 19 litres per 100km respectively.

Glad I don't drive a petrol
