I use Wiki Camps and Google Earth, a good read of reviews to sort out the genuine campers from the whingers and you can usually work out a good one compared to a overcrowded hole........... I have often had a lookie when driving past to check at possible spots for next trip but I always try have a back up camp in case my planned spot is no good, thats for anywhere....
Thanks, I am getting ready to get out on the road again but may head to the beach first

How easy is it to find these types of camp spots along the Murray? Have often thought about doing it but never sure if I would find a good camping spot.
Below is the Wikicamps map dump of just the 50km Murray Rv stretch between Yarrawonga and Tocumwal. Murray campsites are easier to find than your missus finding you a job to do around the house every weekend.

Just to put the area into perspective there are no "campsites', there are just places between trees that people have chosen to camp and then added those random dots on Wikicamps. Once you cross the levy bank you can stop, or camp literally anywhere .... I I mean anywhere .... the only limits would be probably just not in the middle of a track although I have seen that more than few times.

The green dots are only the sites punters have added, but the area between the dots is virtually all camping to. There are so many campsites if all of them were added to Wikicamps it would be a continuous thick green line. If you drive a handful of km's west of Cobram take the first road/track toward the river you can drive (and tow your van) almost to Tocumwal along the river tracks. The main Cobram Track is the quality of a display home car park. Some of the side tracks range from the same, to quite challenging and for the most part on the high banks you'll be driving along the rivers edge past site after site after site after site. Youll be absolutely spoilt for choice. The entire length of the Vic side of the Murray between Yarrawonga and Tocumwal is a continuous, open campsite .... the whole place.

If you cant easily find 300 great spots on that meander along the river ..... you seriously need a guide dog, or hospital care and long term chemical intervention. Its literally impossible not to find a camp site. The river beaches get manic in holidays due to boat access ect, and there are usually the odd peep about all year but I steer away from the beaches and camp on the highbanks where most avoid.

Just go up there, youll be fine. Once you Murray camp, I guarantee youll be a fanboy forever.

Within a hour of the siren going off and house arrest finishing Ill be heading straight up there.

One of the tracks taking you in toward the river, thats just past the levy back and you can literally camp next to the sign there in the front or next to the other one over on the left if you want. You might get a few odd looks, but you can. Anywhere you can see in any of the two photos below you can camp

You can stop and camp anywhere you please ... just stop next to the track if you want

This is a great piece of advice.
Thanks and hopefully one day I will be able to go. I am working on how to put solar panels on at the moment so we can have power for what we need.
Thanks again...

Echuca is certainly the place ............ the June Long Weekend not only has all things Steam but one of my other favourite events, Clydesdale Working Horses going through their paces as well................ a Fly past of old aircraft would just about make it a dream event ............

Victorians mark your calendars , Nhill Airshow next April, travel there in style in a DC3 from Essenden, be brilliant..... if I didn;t have to drive to Melbourne I would be in it..

"

Nhill Aviation Heritage Centre

Are you looking for the perfect fathers day gift? Why not book your dad a flight for the Nhill Airshow 2024?
Aviation enthusiasts will have an opportunity to ‘arrive in style’ to the Nhill Airshow on Saturday, April 13th, next year. Boarding in Essendon, passengers will be able to have a same day return flight in a vintage DC-3 transport aircraft.
Airshow convenor , Rob Lynch said the DC-3 was an impressive aircraft, and for someone to fly into the airshow would be a ‘very special’ experience.
“There are limited seats available on the Dc-3, so people must book as soon as possible to avoid missing out”, he said.
Return flight air tickets from Essendon are $890 (early bird tickets $850 ) and are available online at www.nhillairshow.com.au. Included in the price is free entry to the Airshow.
A 30-minute joy flight across Nhill will be offered at the end of the airshow at 4.30pm . Tickets cost $190 (early bird price $180), making it an ideal gift for Father’s Day!
People seeking more information about the Dc-3 flights can call Nhill Airshow DC3 coordinator Wendy Crowhurst on 0428 387 193 or email: dc3nhill2024@gmail.com

Are you going to the air show @Drover

Bit early to say, tossing up if my Birthday Run next year will be over to SA to finish off my train Ride Tour of SA, that time we met you at Nhill, storms in SA made us depart early, or if we will head to Normanton to ride Gulflander, hard to say yet....

..................Nearly forgot another event, The Quambatook Tractor Pull March 30th, with markets and a show and shine for trucks........... a sleepy town gets hectic for a couple of days each year.
