Easter - What Are They Thinking!

I've got visitors coming from Australia for a couple of weeks, so I'll be showing them the sites around Beijing, taking a high speed train to Xian for a long weekend tour, and whatever else they want to do/see. But no public holidays, will have to take leave for any days off!

We were in Xian Christmas 2009 walkig through the snow at minus 10, lol
China has the fairs happening at Easter, then we have the Aussies visit our factory which is all part of the job, I just miss Easter at home catching up (drinking to excess) with the mates.

Based on the prices some people are paying for their caravan holidays over Easter, I think my visitors will probably pay less for their 2 weeks here than they would if they took their van to the coast for 2 weeks instead!

Guys @barney120 @Dede if you are staying opposite the theme parks on the highway just ensure you lock everything up. That park has had some issues as across the road is, lets say an "interesting" residential area of the gold coast......

I think you have to go to every caravan park, free camp spot ect, with the thought that someone else would like your hard earned gear, better than yourself without working for it, that in mind, I am aware that you have to be careful. But don't let me catch them trying to lift my gear because I will ask questions 2nd. Barney

We are going to the Flinders. Mostly free camping, but last 2 nights here http://www.willangibushescapes.com/ at peterborough. $10/adult/night and $5 for the kids. includes fire wood and toilet. No power.
We try not to stay at parks simply because of the cost. Farmstayz.com is a good site.

Yeah, see I don't consider $30 a night (2A, 2C) to be cheap when you're basically camping in a paddock (not the place you mentioned, just in general). If I have to pay at all, I'd rather pay a bit more and at least get power, water, amenities, playground, maybe a pool etc. First choice would be free bush camping, but if I'm paying, I want my money's worth.

dakky68, I would prefer to free camp as well, however $30 is cheaper than $123. I can see what you are saying about value for money, but I would rather pay $30 to camp in a paddock with no power than pay $123 to stay on top of another camper with power. (My preference only and not putting anyone down that does prefer parks). My wife used to always want to stay at parks but after we crossed the Simpson Desert last year, she realised the kids don't need a playground to have fun. Though a pool would have been good out there lol.
Most of the farmstayz do have a fee.

Ha, I would not be paying $123 (I'm starting to sound like a real cheapskate, I know ). I totally agree when it comes to that kind of price difference. Depends on the destination, too - the only time we go to a caravan park is Christmas (hate it) or if we've been invited by someone, otherwise we always camp in the bush, where the point is to get away from all that stuff.
