looks like its been "bogged" up - and I suppose if its 10 yrs ago, that would explain the tailgate and under panel, and left hand roof. and left hand rear guard

hhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm

the skoobie brumby sounds interesting.........

Hi @Drover, started reading your thread last night. Most impressed with the mods you keep on producing - very clever. Given me a couple to add to the to-do list. Enjoyed the banter between yourself and other forum regulars - gave me a good laugh. I really liked the couple of photos you posted kayaking on the Corindi river. Were you at a nearby van park or free camping? Have just retired so hoping now to ramp up the travelling.

Thanks for your compliments @Curryhouse , we do have some great times with banter on here, which is really good since some of us have never met.......................Since we retired, (gave up working for others now Mrs Drover's slave) we have found Red Rock to be our place for a quick getaway staying a the Red Rock Caravan Park, a great no frills park with river on one side ,beach the other, they don't have town water so it's bring your own and top up from the big rain water tanks, nice and grassy and no fun park ammentites, nature provides all that. The Corindi River is great for fishing (so I have been told) and kayaking, clean and clear. Free camping on the coast is a rarity around here if you want to be on th beach, found the NP camp grounds to be pretty good but they are nearly as expensive as a van park.

My mods are a mixture of what I've seen on here and some thought up myself and some like my stone guard were an evolving work as I tried to find what worked for my rig. I'm a tinkerer from way back and in retirement have found great enjoyment in being able to start a project and get it done in a few days or a week, where when working the same job would take me a month or more, in fact all the mods on my van I worked out would have taken roughly 4 yrs to do while I was working, I've had it 15 mths. This van has provided me a lot of things to do that should have been done when it was built, I think I've practically dismantled it and put it back together so far.

Had enough of the wet so we are going fishing/yaking with some of the GK's this week and since the store bought mobile aerials aren't that great I built a yagi so I can have a decent mobile broadband signal, just need a compass and a bearing to the tower and we are in business.
Prototype mounting but I know the yagi works as I have run it at home, not as good as my dish but not too bad.

And I must mention that I got the design from some great fellas on Whirlpool,......http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/homemade_yagi#homemade_yagi_pg2

after I upgraded my suspension I hooked up and went for a spin to check out balance and stuff, van was empty, tug was empty, van sat low at the front but too high at front if I rotated the tow hitch so I had it with a drop at the front and it towed very nice....it would do until I got another hitch made or put on airbags.............the fellas at airlie would have seen how it dropped at the front, it did annoy me so ater a few thousand Km's and out at Winton, the light went "ON".....Jeep and Van were empty when I tested it, so I rolled the hitch and hooked up the van, both are loaded and guess what !!!!!!!!! The damn thing is perfectly level............................................of course...DUH..!!!!!!...

Well did my after trip and pre trip inspection of van today, lousy weather after last run, was crook for a week then new wagon to sort out, so 'after trip' became 'pre trip' combined,...... was surprised that the metal cover thats over the wiring that comes from draw bar into van had taken some good rock hits on last trip, and had a lovely collection of rocks inside, surprising as it's only a couple of foot away from my big mud flaps on front of van.......................so I knocked up a new alloy box to cover the cables so will see how that goes next week. The old mud flaps that I had fitted in front of the water tank fittings worked a treat, you can actually see the hits on the rubber, I just hung them from the cross member and curved them under the fittings and zip tied them in place.
Pulled the anode out and it has still got heaps of meat on it after 1.5 yrs, plenty of use must be the secret to longeivity because it's had some bore water thru it as well as tank water.
Greased the shackles and of course a couple of grease nipples don't want to work, hate the damn things.
Checked spare tyre rack and it hasn't moved so very pleased even the bolts were still nice and tight.
Resealed that dust scoop on the back underneath, no dust will get in there now and to make sure filled the cable holes in the cupboards with silastic.
Also checked all around my stove, mounted firmly, pipe good and all seems good.
Test run the Van with the Colorado next week out to Nindigully and beyond.

The new combination is working well and have added a LPG Detector and also discovered that when it's raining make sure you shut the dump valve on the grey water tank, shower was not a nice place the other day when we pulled up for the night.

"There's no better feeling than going to bed at night and not having to set the alarm for tomorrow?" OH I wish that was true for this Saturday night! Next Saturday will be different as I'll be an hour and a half away from work and sleeping in the expanda :)
