We camped next a "Big Mamma" StarCraft at March Fly Glen (beautiful free camp) on the Gibb no issues at all and funny enough towed by a 200 series @Smirke :boink::)

Imagine waking up here with the Expanda ;)

nice.....very nice indeed! The spare on the panda wagon gets moved to the back bumper next week (hopefully...if they have remembered). Means buying 2 extra tyres, 1 for the new beast and 1 for the panda.
But, it all depends on the road conditions I guess, as we will be going along the gibb during the july hols. But sorry @Matty4 , not game enough to take her up to mitchell falls. Cost us too much, but I would have taken the swan, regardless of what hubby said!

did a test drive of the 200 series yesterday. What is with the accelerator pedal??? That would take a bit of getting use to. Put the foot down to reverse and nothing happened. Though I'd left the handbrake on.......nope.......turned to car guy who told me to put foot further down.........we started to go. Drives like the territory did. Wasn't too bad I guess. Must say, was very quiet inside car the v8 and Diesel engine sounds weren't noticeable. So, we have ordered one (subject to our work saying yes for salary packaging it) with the following accessories.
Car will come with .........
Tow bar harness
2" lift
Swapping tyres over to the cooper st max
ARB summit bullbar (still in development phase apparently)

We will put on.....
3rd battery
A mountain load of 12v and usb outlets
Rear wheel carrier
Roof rack/ the flat tray type I think
Tow pro
Poly airbags.
Window tinting
Mickey Mouse ears (clearviews)

Not sure about a snorkel.

Hope so. Going to email car guy this morning. Yesterday he mentioned that the pre delivery cost isn't subject to the luxury car tax. Yet, in every quote he's included it in the accessories and so it has been subject to both gst and LCT. Going to challenge him on it. Had him scared when I said I did my own quotes and worked out the LCT and final costs. He obviously didn't think someone -possibly a girl- could figure it out seeing as though .... "it's a really hard process which I don't even understand, so I just put it into my computer" then he asked what I did, job wise. He spoke to hubby a lot then.

LOL - give them a hard time, they are making plenty in commissions, they should earn it !!

Took my sister to buy a car a while back, salesmen kept talking to me, until I told them that unless they talk to the customer, being my sister, we wouldn't buy a car from them and walked out.

Did this to 2 dealers before we found one who actually spoke to her, which incidentally was a female sales person. We then bought the car from her.

Hi, very one. A couple of questions for those of you with the 200series. Am after approx fuel consumption when towing, around town and when off road.....if possible. I have been told the car has 2 fuel tanks but, if the car does have 2 tanks, does it automatically switch between them as I don't remember seeing a tank switch in the vehicle or a 2nd fuel gauge? Our patrol has 2 gauges and a switch which makes it easy to see what we have and what we don't.
Don't quote me on this but my 2009 200 series only has one fuel tank of 138l. Our old Prado had 2 x 90l tanks and I'm sure toyota stopped the duel tank to increase fuel efficiency when full?
I do recall in our Prado that once the first tanks was around just under half full it would bounce back up to full indicating the second tank was in use.
Surely you could google the specs of your year model? 200 series to verify the fuel tanks and fuel efficiency?

Did you look at the new Y62 Patrol @Smirke ?
We looked at it before we got this one, and didn't like the fuel economy, the fact it was only in petrol and the price. It also is plagued with electrical gremlins, especially with the windows and fuel delivery system. The guy I deal with at Nissan said not to touch it until the gremlins get the boot (he says they still haven't made any progress with them). The people 2 doors down have one, and have had to have it towed 3 times and borrowed a car to bring van home. Given our luck, we'd get one with a lot wrong.
Hopefully this car will be ok and we'll be able to keep it.

Get the snorkel @Smirke the 200 sucks its air in from inside the front wheel arch! Buggered if I'd want my car eating dust all the way up through the Kimberley!
I read that somewhere @achjimmy . Wasn't sure about the snorkel, but agree, don't want all that dust going into the engine. Will need to find a price for that Monday and add it to the list.

Hi @Worst Caravan Ever! . I've Google and asked on here and also asked O.R.E and the guy at Toyota. There are 2 tanks and it does as you say.......starts filling automatically at a certain level. Not something I'm too impressed with at all. I like to be able to control when I used the 2nd tank. But as long as it works, I'm happy.

Safari $800 fitted from ARB there's a new safari "max" something , probably worth it.

Yep two tanks, transfer automatically and works faultlessly.

Thanks Smirke,
All this time I thought I only had 1 tank. Ha! Anyhow, all the best with your adventures.

Hey @Smirke if you end up going from the east on the Gibb we may end up bumping into each other somewhere along the way :), I think we were going to be about a week ahead of you guys but we are coming from Derby and going to pull the Panda all the way through....well thats the plan at the moment. A friend of mine was up their last year with his CT and was saying that every second van was a Jayco both big and small, so there seems to be a lot more people taking them up there now.

PS: we probably have room for a couple of kids on the roof rack if you need some space ;)

yes, thats the one we ordered. Unfortunately its more pricey than the other one, and we don't get the fog lights. (the gxl doesn't have them anyway.)
