I wanted white but wife and son said no more white cars. Went to Dealer with an alternate I mind and on entering yard wife again said no to that one after seeing a few of that colour. A silver one was available at a shorter delivery time so wife said that if I took that one I could have any accessories I wanted. A very difficult choice for a few seconds. Still milking that promise for all it's worth. Still would have preferred white though.

Have two silver vehicles, pretty easy to look after, I believe u get charged less For white cars to be cut and polished,
My option avoid black, if u have ever lent on the black bonnet in the sun you would understand (ouch!)

Funny u say they have short delivery time on silver, this was the case with the two I have, may be a chance to barter?

Good luck, all look good with an expanda on the back.

My 'granite' Jeep seems to scrub up pretty well and looks great with dark tint.
It's not as hard to keep clean as my dark blue Pajero for some reason. I think it looks fabulous.

On scratches to the clear coat.... A dark colour with scratches to the clear coat can look pretty bad. Especially in the sun. Having said that my old after 5 years, including some pretty narrow coastal tracks, always looked great after a polish with carnauba wax.

Polish is the key. As is the use of a clay bar which so many people have never used. It is my secret weapon against all sorts of road grime and occaisional light scratch.

I have also have a Golf which has had two rear bumper bars....in 3 years..(not me!) ..Interestingly the panel beater (ex BMW body works specialist) recently said to me silver is very hard to match. I can tell.

Cheers

Silvers are essentially not a colour, but a clear suspension with metallic flakes in it. The finer or coarser the flakes give the silver the slight variation in colour, hence the reason it is very difficult to colour match 100%.
Silvers especially will highlight the tiniest flaw in a repair too.

I've had white, silver, dark blue and red cars now I've got a black Colorado, to be honest where I live, on a dirt road, parking under trees they all looked crap 10 minutes after washing them, the black is actually better than the dark blue was. I like the blue one too but seriously go with what makes you smile when you look at it. I haven't heard too many bad comments from people who own them, I know I'm happy with mine, so you should be very happy, especially for the price you get them for in comparison to similar vehicles.

At the end of the day as long as your happy thats the most important thing. Every colour needs a wash I guess some more than others.

As for bush stripes, polish it before you head bush and again when you return this will go along way to protecting your paint. Remember they don't stay new forever and we buy them to use them

Hi @expanda well I have a white one, work supplied! Is a great car! Tows really and is really good bang for your buck! Really doesn't matter what what colour as long as your happy with it! Eats towing a 17.56-2 OB or a fully loaded horse float for breakfast I really flog the car 110km/h and still only tops out at 15L. I love my Colorado!

Having spent the last two months in Europe it has come to my notice that you hardly ever see a white car. Most are shades of dark blue, through the greys and a lot of black. From this I can only deduce that Europeans of all nationalities either practice vehicular apartheid in reverse, or have learned from experience that White gets manky more often.

For me, it is white every time. Doesn't show the scratches from the bush until you get really close. Scratches virtually polish out quickly and, from my experience they sell quicker on the second hand market, but that is probably subjective. Have had metallic green Subaru' that were knackered on the first bush track I took.My Patrol GU in gold looked like it had been vandalised with the battle scars of many an outing, but my shorty Pajero , GQ Patrol and current BT looked almost perfect.

For a 4WD, for me at least , it is the only colour to choose. However, when buying my little Alfa, there was only one colour choice, because I find the red goes very well with the not so distinguished grey of my hair :)
