Yes .... but you dont have any of the aforementioned chicken sandwiches in your reply, which wouldnt have been the connection and your ticket to Baking Bread post
Hi,
but hey, @Bluey is already halfway to baking bread. He has a camp oven, and with two posts has established that he is a master of using it.

We just need to encourage him to swap out the meat for flour and hey presto, he will be there.

Common @Bluey, you know you can do it!
Have you ever made a damper in the camp oven?

take care
Mike

Hi @Bluey,
thanks for the recipe. I add a dash of vegetable oil which helps to keep it fresh.

We met Ranger Nick and his partner when we were camping at Dondos campground a couple of years ago.

Really good video by King Brown Ronnie.

take care
Mike

Hi @Bluey,
yeah, damper and scones are quite similar ingredients and techniques, so I am not surprised that soda water or lemonade, often used for scones, would also work well in making damper.

Likewise, I would like to venture out and add nice things to a damper, but when we are out camping we also like eating damper with jam, honey, or syrup. So any savoury damper would be difficult.

I am more traditional with my recipes and want to use the most basic of ingredients. I relented and add some milk to my damper, but after watching the video, I am going to go back to just flour, water, and salt. My recipe is quite wet, so I am also going to make the next one more like the consistency in the video. But, I don't use a camp oven and it all is done on the chippy which is not as hot, especially at the top.

take care
Mike
