Wow...got one to work!

The Word transfer method......

Anyway.....slide out kitchen which was one of the main attractions but we were concerned that the weight would be a possible problem so had to be sure it could be supported. It can.
There's a two burner Smev stove, a sink and the Waeco drawer fridge....and all just slides into the hatch...and the Weber can sit on top of the bench if necessary.

and it's all plumbed neatly via hot and cold pressure connections and the gas bayonet on the wall........no more crawling underneath to attach the gas hose.

Good question...oh Westralian.

Awning is fine for an overnight but one of our beefs was exactly that.

Problem solved as we're having the usual Sunbusters screen made longer with a solid piece over the kitchen but won't get them till next week....measured the other day and being custom made now. It's called a B.A.R.E.

If we need to cover the kitchen for an overnight stop, we've got the awning side wall from 4wdsupastore and added a couple of eyelets so it can go up quickly with a couple of poles.

We're tending to stay longer at places these days, rather than the belting travel done over the last few years so that should justify the extra awning space and the kitchen protection.

and yes...I will take a photo! (Now you've given me a lesson in photos 101)

I was thinking from the perspective of

being camped for awhile, would the kitchen be under the awning, and if so, would the leg of the awning be in the way of the fridge slide
or
is the kitchen on the outside of the awning (having annex wall in between door and kitchen - hence kitchen on the outside)

I can understand using the screen walls as shade,

just not sure where exactly it sits

If I knew what I was doing with links I could explain better.

The kitchen is just under the awning when it's out...but not enough to give any real protection. The AFK goes on next to the awning bar and the shade wall slides in the AFK. All as per normal but .....the side wall doesn't fall for another 3 - 4 metres, that 3m becomes a roof, poles and a spreader bar hold it tight and you end up with a covered kitchen and a bigger awning area.

And the kitchen extended doesn't go beyond the awning and it's possible to have it partly out.

There is no awning leg attached to the van..it's a wind out so no obstruction to either the front tunnel or the back.

Kick me if this doesn't make sense!

Very nice van @Dobbie, we first seen one when we were away and took great interest thinking it was a "new" better looking Expanda.

Just reading the specs, I see your outdoor kitchen faces under the awning and all the propaganda shows it facing away from the awning, was that a personal choice. Those outdoor kitchens are a really great idea, especially for us we as we tend to cook inside more often than not because of the convenience

Yep @Crusty181 ...we sold our Jayco with an unused stove, grill and microwave. I don't think we ever cooked inside, even in the cold and rain...so that's what attracted us in the first place ...and we'd just been away with pals who'd just got a Complete Campsite and we were very impressed with that setup.

Golf tend to change the specs at will...but the first item on our order was "kitchen must face forward" as we'd gone to the trouble of organising the Weber box just forward of that.

I couldn't imagine a time when we'd want to use the kitchen facing the rear...you'd have to walk around it just to put the kettle on. I think the original 499 model they released a couple of years ago had the kitchen where the rear tunnel boot is on ours so it faced towards the rear.

Guess what happened? The van came from the factory with the kitchen facing the rear! It has since been changed.

We've just shifted it this morning so we can get 240 to it and test all the other bits and pieces....and the ark articulated hitch is really good as we had to reverse up a steepish driveway with bumps.

Overall....so far...we're happy

Will do....after I find my glasses, locate my walking stick, generate some enthusiasm .....and all those other things I can't remember.

Been testing the 240v stuff....just as well as the Projecta 25 amp charger has developed lungs. Some sort of issue between the charger itself, located under the seat, and the remote ....error code. Will look carefully later.

The fridge has been tested....down to optimum temp in less than 24 hours....and the aircon is quiet and seems effective. I can't bring myself to test its heating potential as I cringe when I think of heating.

I'll grab some photos of the bed setup and internals when I can....I told you I was slow!

and the jockey wheel is far better than the Jayco one.... It actually extends and drops further. Alco brand, I think.
For some reason, I thought a jockey wheel was just a jockey wheel but it seems it's not so.
