Hi Adam. Just word of caution. I had a very similar stone guard on my soft floor. The stones bounced off like a trampoline.......straight into the back of the car.
I found The angle of the guard to be critical to make sure stones deflect down., and that the covering was loose enough to take up the impact of the stones hitting it.
Cheers.

@BUSH PALACE @TTBRIDGE . We spent 2 weeks on the island, week before school hols and one week during. We left from Inskip Point. The access cutting to the barge was very soft and chewed up, plenty of right boot and the correct line made it without a drama. Barge cost $170 return. Camping fees about $3.50 a night per person for eastern beach camping. Ive been going to Fraser for about 25 years and beach conditions would have to be the best ive ever seen them, as we didnt need to take any of the bypass tracks around the rocks. Weather was perfect, beautiful Beer days and Rum nights. I must admit I was a little hesitant in towing my expanda up there as to the weight issue, but we never had a drama so will do it all again next year.

Sounds great thanks for that - just another place added to the bucket list ..

Thanks Mate,

We have not been for a few years. Have taken the old AS up there in the soft stuff but with the 2.5 tonne loaded weight i am not sure about the expanda. Not having the take any inland tracks make going a bit easier.

Inskip point is always my major concern. The only place i have ever been bogged in sand, but was also before i had much sand experience . Thanks for the feedback. Did you have a traveling companion?

We had 4 other families travelling with us two with new jayco eagles and the others tenting it. So we had plenty of help if need be. May have been a different outcome if the rocks were exposed on the yidney and happy valley bypass tracks. Im very happy with the way the prado and van performed.

Finally got around to pulling out the crappy standard jayco Fusion Stereo and speakers today.

I have PIMPED the van with Clarion 7" touch screen with dvd and bluetooth and sony 61/2 4 way speakers. WOW what a difference it makes. Also have surround sound for the TV now. Lucky we do alot of free camping.

nice mod there adam looks good but do you intend spending a lot of time inside ?????
Did this mod mainly for the better quality of sound for our music we can now control the playlists via bluetooth from outside the van. Never usually get time to watch TV but its always there if we need it.

@benandjordansmum. The only thing I added was the stone guard which stopped all the sand spraying all up the front of the van. I also sprayed the chassis and all electrical components with lanolin and covered the outside speakers with plastic. Enjoy your holiday.
