Picked up the van thismorning from Not Just Canvas in Caboolture after having the annexe fitted. Very happy with the colours and the quality. We would recommend them to all looking at buying a annexe. Home to fix the leaking shower now. Fun stuff

Good looking annex Adam79.
We aren't too far away from them.
Do they do the Bed End flies as well?
I assume they would, as they custom make their own camper trailers as well as all canvas work. Dan the owner also offers a lifetime warranty on all his work which must say something towards the quality of the finished product - Faultless.

We got our annex from the same place. Very happy with ours as well. Are you going to join us @ adam79 at Cunungra in July For our QLD meet?

THANKS for the invite but unfortunately we will miss this one as we have other commitments on those dates.

Adam79 looks great. wheres the shower leaking from???
I have multiple leaks - missing silicone around where the base meets the wall sheeting. Also the floor waste was never been installed properly it was leaking between the shower base and the floor of the van. Another leak around the door frame the door is miss aligned (first service warranty fix) I installed a extra aluminum door sill to stop the water running down the door and onto the floor outside the shower. Pulled out all the old silicone and replaced the lot today. Much neater and more professional job. I have been reading posts about mains pressure lines leaking, so that is the next item on the to do list.

Guys, you are freaking me out. Our 20.63OB isn't due for another month and your tales of Jayco woe have me paranoid. People wouldn't put up with this stuff from the cheapest of car manufacturer's. As a new van these 'vans eclipse the price off most family Vehicles. Just curious to understand why people are not screaming from the rooftops to Jayco demanding money back or full replacement.

Dont worry Jayco have photos of the problems I am having with my three week old van, and are working with me. If my problems persist with the shower leaking I will be asking for a replacement shower cubicle as its just not good enough. If I handed over a house with issues like this I would lose my builders licence. Alan - other than that we are happy with everything else, just have to remember that Jayco are a mass produced van and things do go wrong sometimes. (I seem to have got the bad one haha)

But that is just it... They will replace. One thing I think Jayco is good at is fixing the stuff ups that come out of the factory.

Yes, things go wrong during mass production, where you have unskilled operators doing the assembly and the line moves quickly.
However, mass production also gives you great ability to track your warrranty data, and hit the biggest, mosr re-occuring issues.
I don't even have my van yet, but the top issues I have learned from this forum, is bubbling bed ends, shower walls coming away from the frame, yellowing shower walls, leaking showers, mains inlet hoses popping, and very crappy 12v wiring. (Im sure there are more)
Sorry Jayco, these are not unsurmountable problems that cannot be rectified during production.
Honestly, I can only think that Jayco either does not track their warranty issues/spend, or they have a business case that shows its cheaper to fix these things at dealers than implement long term manufacturing fixes.
Perhaps rather than spending the cash on the HSV Head of design, Jayco put some extra work into warranty/durability analysis, and manufacturing quality control.

Totally agree Soaring. I am reading the same old stories time and again of the same old issues and the same old time honoured excuses of mass production surface for what is blatantly very poor Quality Control and Mismanagement at the highest level. These vans are not cheap unless someone has a different definition of that concept than I. For some it will be the third biggest purchase of their life after house and car. For others it may be the second, and for people who rent homes, it may be the biggest single outlay they may ever have. If there were as many QC issues with any other product you could name ( cars, mobile phones - condoms even) people would vote with their feet and recalcitrant repeat offenders would have to change or go bust. Is the caravan market different to any other marketable commodity that needs to compete on price, features, value for money and Quality? I seriously doubt it.

The Expanda concept, whilst not unique to Jayco, is a brilliant one and I cannot wait for mine to arrive In a month's time, which is a perverse statement and contrary to my own argument at the same time. Is this where my musings fall over? Surely I have fallen into the same trap of wanting one despite it's obvious and many failings. Have Jayco discovered the holy grail of the market economy whereby no matter what they put out of the factory gates, it will be purchased regardless of how bad or good it is?

This forum has been invaluable for giving me the knowledge to know what to look for before I hand over the balance of my hard earned And I am very grateful for everyone's input and experiences. Unfortunately it seems that the revolver is loaded with five bullets in the game of Jayco roulette and not just the normal one from what I read. Still, forewarned is forearmed and at least I should capture the more blatant issues prior to swapping the bank cheque for what I hope will be our home from home for what is planned to be two years on the road.

Here's hoping...........

Still reckon we get a lot of van for the money, due to the mass production approach, and very few of us would like pay more or wait longer for a van.
The trade-off is fewer factory customisation options (creating an opportunity for our own mods) and the odd QQ issue along the way, which most members have found are satisfactorily resolved post-production at the Jayco dealer level.
Remember most new motor vehicles have been known to have the odd issue as well (and some of these are quietly corrected during scheduled service). Happily on my third Jayco.

Well put but i think they should offer a longer warranty period. I got a 10yr drivetrain warranty on my triton which i drive everyday and i only get a 1 yr on the van and only use it for around 60 days in that year.

Shame we cant buy them at lock up and do the rest ourselves.

Well I am happy with the quality of mine. Mine does not have a shower, they seem to be an issue with some at the moment. I am prepared to fix a few issues if they pop up, so far so good. Mind you I have improved some things. Jayco should get us involved in a focus group!
