I will rename the Jeeperific MkII, The Jeep Grand Chook .......... as it s*#s on other vehicles. :becky:  :D and I like Chooks.

Bet they don't go gunning for the Apache chopper but the Chevy Cheyenne, do they still make them ?? and the name Ute will have to go as well I'm afraid, old Sioux and Iroquious choppers ....................

Thread needed a Bump :bump: I think ....................... so many folk would be starved for Jeep Info for sure.......;);).

Van is all checked out to roll, so did a load check of the gear the Jeeperific carries, my trusty Aldi water transfer pump failed the test after years of sterling service, I couldn't resusitate it so instead of getting another I decided to order a 59lt water tank which will get put in the back of jeep when on the road, replacing the 3 jerry cans I used to lug around, I will just knock up a light ply house for it, so it doesn't get banged around, typical caravan tank but i will only use the breather and one of the small outlets which I will use to fill or drain from, pressure feed from mains with the breather plumbed to outside via a floor grommet, water spurts on road, tank is full, tap on both lines..... Only fill when needed and I think it will work well and should gravity feed to van tanks if not may just make a fitting to connect to breather line so I can add a few psi of air to push it, only needs a couple of psi......... certainly have good quality clamps in that case.

Only recent mod to the Jeep was I built a unit to replace something they called a Turbo Muffler, a plastic baffle device that fitted between Turbo and Intercooler, to keep noise down, some have split open, I always looked at it as a restrictive bit of BS, after market shiny job is in the $300 area, so I got a muffler shop to knock me up a bit of pipe 55mm OD one end and 65mmOD the other,$15, I migged a bracket and some beads on pipe end to hold hose, 2 x turbo clamps $18, has had a good test run and works well, in fact I think the diesel sounds a lot better ............ gave it a 100K service a few months back time has flown, at least Covid, weather and bluddy Doctors have kept the mileage down, only 10K km this year with only a 1K with van so far and last year I think we managed 25k Km but it did do near 12K with van on back, saved on servicing and tyres................... 20 days and counting................. why not escape earlier ?, bluddy doctors of course....:censored:

Having just read another road report on the new WL Grand Cherokee I think Jeep will loose sales for sure here in Oz, what was once the go to tow vehicle if you wanted a wagon is no longer, as it now has a tow cap down to 2.2t, only available with a V6 petrol which is thirstier than the diesel by a long shot and unless you spend over $100K for the top of the line model you only get a single speed transfer case which doesn't do its 4WD cred much good............. better vehicles to buy really I think.......have to make this WK2 last longer which by the way its running very nicely having just over 115K km on the clock, the last year it clocked about 15K km less than normal but the money saved was spent anyway .......... this year isn't looking like a high mileage year either at least the tyres will last longer..........

Proved another old Fix Up still applies to modern stuff, the thermostat on the Jeep like many european engines now isn't just a simple metal affair, while they still have the similar metal moving parts they are encased in a Nylon housing, mine had a hissy the other day, coolant and oil temps went thru the roof but I managed to limp to a mates, once cooled down we pulled the innards out of the housing and after a test run I headed for home 55kms away, all good...... luckily I have coolant and oil temp gauges so I knew exactly what was happening, so nothing really cooked ........ oil has been changed and hopefully all is good again..... the temps with the wax valve removed were actually quite good, ambient was 21c and around town and on the highway temps were very good, I may not replace it with the new one when the postie turns up ........... though if down south in colder climes it would be a must.............

Still a mighty vehicle this Jeep of mine.......................

My old girl is still going strong (daughter had it now) with 250,000 on the clock, always used Castrol oil always used genuine Mopar coolant but I have to say the interior of the new Jeep is outstanding especially compared to anything from Thailand

Used to use Castrol magnatec Diesel 5W40 ACEA C3, I changed to a Nulon 10W40 API CJ4 oil mainly for the HD, Castrol didn't have a match, then Jeep changed their recomendation from 5W40 ACEA C3 to a 5W40 API CJ4 oil which is an ACEA E9, Castrol does have a match but its hard to find ........ I always use Nulon coolant easier to source if needed... Think they changed to better cover their bearing and DPF dramas they have had in the US.

The Worldwide recall of Bosch CP4 fuel pumps in many diesel vehicles and my Jeep being one of them has now been completed on my chariot, a new upgraded Bosch HPFP fitted and fuel lines, running even nicer than before .................. FCA/Stellantis Z46 recall.................

Interestingly while FCA (Jeep Australia) had put out a recall no individual notices sent out it was up to owners to chase it up with a Dealer........ https://www.vehiclerecalls.gov.au/recalls/rec-005648

Latest upgrade for the Jeeperific is going to be air bags for the back so I can do away with a WDH, pain to fit and carry around ... Only really need them to take the load off the Nivomat self leveling shocks, I hook up drive down the road about half a K by then the Nivomats have jacked back up to standard level and I put the bars on ........... had enough of them, been thinking of HD air bags for ages and a one day special on them meant I saved over $90 so in the mail soon, just need inspiration to fit them .................... and being coil sprung wagon no worries about bending chassis if one hasn't replaced the original leaf springs.
