Just putting a question out there about wether to put a chip in the pathie and if so which one? Looking at chip my diesel.com as it has great reviews. Any other thoughts? Need to improve fuel economy whilst towing.

I have a tunit in my D40, it has settings 1 to 9 and certainly has made a difference . In saying that though I had a larger exhaust and snorkel already on to keep the EGT 's down. I would recommend getting at least a larger exhaust to begin with to help with the temps the chip will make

Can't really say if it improved my fuel economy though while towing as I havent towed without it. Running light engine around town and on the hiway the difference is bugger all. Though the extra power used for passing etc accounts for any savings that way i guess. Towing our 20.63 outback into a 25 knot southeaster the fuel gauge was in free fall and chewed around 22l per hundred and that was sitting on 100 kph. With no wind and maybe a slight tail wind I got into the mid to low 18s which i was happy with.

I had a unichip in the last ranger which I removed when I sold the vehicle, I did quite a bit of research and decided that was the way to go as it did a lot more than just boost fuel pressure which a lot of them only do, The company I bought it from tuned it on a dyno with a computer connected to the chip to get the best combination of fuel economy v power, still have it if you are interested in a cheap one

No limits chips for us, adjustable for street driving and i wind it up for towing. Having said that, the Pathy did well without it, just wanted one to see difference and now it has stayed there.
Getting my full exhaust soon, so as navmatt says, will look out for his findings. Pace.

im no expert but looked into this for my prado decided not to will just get a bigger exhaust and a snorkel if that makes any difference didn't like running huge pressure through the fule rail in time how long can the cars take thease pressures I mean 5 10 years down the track I was looking at the spelling im not sure stineburger I think but what eva u do do ur resurch make sure u want one on ur car I think there not the bees knees if u need one that bad maybe ur underpowered anyway and things wont change much there not cheap to find not much difference I say be carefull do they have to be reset if car breaks down ?????? not sure heard stories as I said im no expert just my opinions research is the key and remember all companies want to sell there product so there all good have any of thease companies gone out of business in the last 5 years that sell chips others will probly drill me for my opinions but its what its all about different views giddy up!

I have a chip in my colorado and have done over 30000 k's towing my 16-49-1 OB and it has never let me down.
Power when overtaking is noticeable and a little better in fuel usage.
My mate has the same make on his navara d40

We went the Steinbaur as it change the injection pulse width to allow more fuel, fuel rail pressure is the same so no overloading of fuel lines, pumps or holes in pistons. They are plug and play except for the wire to the throttle pedal, adjustable and if your car is under warranty they can be removed and there is no record of the module being registered on the original computer for the manufacturer to find.
never had a problem after 4 yrs with ours.

last trip with van from Newy to Tamworth and back averaged 14.54 lt/100km. heaps more power. From what i can see i still get the same economy with the module and the extra power but hard to tell if its better with out the van on as we haven't done any long distance trips with out the van on. i used to average about 8 - 9 lt/100km on distance trips without van but also have fitted a lot of acc to vehicle too.
Would not buy any other product. A couple of mates also have them ant they think the same. There is also the peace of mind that yr fuel rail is not going to split under the extra pressure.
