Hi all only found this forum by accident while searching for a pic of the expanda to show a mate.We borrowed my sister's eagle camper for the recent school holidays, we ended up doing 4000km in 10 days, had a ball but found that when moving every couple of day's or just an overnight stay the eagle had it's short comings,it was while in Dubbo the wife noticed an Expanda in the van park which got her mind thinking. The day after we got back we went to the local Jayco dealer to have a closer look at one and decided that the 14.44.4OB was the one for us.A week later we ordered our 14.44.4OB with delivery expected early december. We managed to get a few options fitted at no cost or reduced cost, 150lt fridge upgrade with anderson plug wiring (free),gas bayonet (free),90 watt solar (free),wind up aerial and full annex at a reduced price. So now the wait.

Welcome 04diesel. Good to have another Queenslander and a 14' on the forum. Don't forget to post on our polls for 'states' and van size when you get it. Sounds like a great setup and you will notice the difference from the Eagle.

Couldn't have chosen a better model myself! There seem to be good deals lately - the free solar is definite bonus! Welcome and congrats

Welcome 04Diesel. It's great when the wife spies something YOU need. Sounds like a nice package. December will come round quickly enough while you're compiling your list of mods and personal touches. Trawl this forum thoroughly...there's a wealth of great stuff to get your imagination fired up. Get a little notebook and jot down the ideas that take your fancy as you find them.

Welcome 04diesel
Great choice I also had a jayco camper but picked up my 14.44.4OB at the start of the last holidays and did a ten day road trip also. It's soooooooo much better than the camper. We got the same extra's as you (plus a few more) minus the solar panels, you are lucky we had to wait six month's for ours but it was worth it.
We have had the van out this weekend at kenilworth state forest and is was great for a weekender(very hot out there this w/end).We have found it hotter than the camper due to less ventilation,if I were you I would think about the roof mounted A/C for when you are on a powered site we have this with ours and are sure it wil be in use in the summer holidays.
Great to see another Qld 14 series owner in the group.Do a few searches of the forum and you will find heaps of great info to keep you going until the pickup day
Cheers

:welcome: 04Diesel enjoy the forum.

It sounds like you skipped the whole camper trailer stage and went straight to the Expanda enjoy it when it arrives.

Thanks for the welcome fella's, yes one ten day trip was enough for us to make the decision to look for a van of our own.The sisters, EagleOB while being a great camper with a full annex seemed to lack storage space but started us thinking that we wouldn't mind something of our own.We really liked the practical layout of the 14.44.4OB with the bunks at the rear and double at the front, With 2 kids it made sense to us as our son is nearly 17 so probably won't be with us all the time so the bottom bunk can be used as extra storage. Can't wait to pick it up,the wife has already started buying bits and pieces to stock it up. We are heading to the caravan show this weekend to see if we can pick up some bargains. the one thing i am very interested in are the covers for the outside of the bed.

Getting closer, had conformation from the dealer today our 14-44-4 will be coming off the production line end of next week with delivery 10 to 15 days later as the annex has to be made once it arrives at the dealer can't wait.

Glad to see you are on the home stretch. Sounds like your dealer is doing the same as ours by checking the van before placing the annex order. Mine told me jayco have caught them out before by slightly moving lights, awning mounts etc and then the annex wont fit. At least you know it will fit ok.
We had planned another o'night in ours this weekend. But it looks like we are in for a wild storm weekend up here in SE Qld with a few super cells forming, so it looks like I may be putting the cover back on in the morning.
Go the 14.44.4
cheers

Welcome 04D. :welcome: Great to see another Queensland here. :)
Great forum this one and as others have said, a wealth of knowledge and information.
I don't think Jayco have started shipping the Expandas with LED lights yet... could be your first mod :biggrin1: cheapie one and easy to do with big benefits.

Hope that wait is not too much longer for you. Its a killer.

Woo Hoo it has arrived at the dealers, went down there today to check it out, very happy with what we saw.NotJustCanvas has to measure and fit the annex,Asked dealer to register the van a week early instead of the day of delivery, just makes the bank a bit happier having a rego number. Delivery is booked for next Friday afternoon so the wait is almost over.
