Answer.....4 kids (5 incl hubby) and mum wants some peace n quiet!Holy crap!
I failed the ePub challenge but got it working with iPad, not Samsung.
All the rest is absolutely double Dutch to me even though I worked in computers for years.
I guess I couldn't give a monkeys about the new stuff. It's not even an intellectual challenge.
Sorry!!!
Why on earth do you need all that stuff if you want to go camping?
That's what we got @NoWorries . Unless the movies are MP4 you need to have vlc to play them though. I did try converting them, but the quality became crap. I just don't like how our sphere tv's don't recognise it, so we are stuck bringing another 2 hd's with us .OK I will just plug the HDD into the TV
But if I was going to do it so everyone could access anything (Except Dave's old Porn Movies)
I would get one of these

Simples
Not so much caught out, as trapped by my clever trickeryI think you caught Dave out Ian
The EDUP device allows 5 phones, computers, tablets etc to access the connected hard drive at the same time ... at $20, is a pretty cheap solution. Mine works like a dream. No batteries to charge, just leave it plugged in to any USB socket and its good to go 24/7. The EDUP creates its own wifi network that any device can log into. The WD (Western Digital) Live media player is a $100 media player you plug into the TV. You generally attached by USB cable your hard drives, so you can watch movies from the hard drive. The bonus in this EDUP setup is the WD Live will also connect to the EDUP network and stream movies from the EDUP's connected hard drive, straight to the TV via the WD Live .... all whilst the kids are watching whatever on the iPods or tablets also from the same EDUP hard drive. You just leave it plugged in, in the van, all the time, and your tribe can access it in a whim anywhere within a circle around the van including the car (even on the move) ... no further setup or input from you@Crusty181 , when you say it supports up to 5 devices I assume that you are talking hard drives?? We have the seagate wireless hard drive and have the same problem as @davemc where it either plays wirelessly or if it gets plugged in to the tv, it loses the wireless capabilities. (Also found it won't play the movies......bummer..... so have to take the other hard drives.) not quite sure on my thought processes with this, but wondering if the seagate could do the job of the WD??

(I think my graphic is better than @James Clark's. That EDUP in the pic looks almost real. Im not actually a graphic artist although you could be forgiven for thinking so)
im off to ebay to buy one .The EDUP device allows 5 phones, computers, tablets etc to access the connected hard drive at the same time ... at $20, is a pretty cheap solution. Mine works like a dream. The ebay HongKa'nese seller is a "kaamart" Item is hereAny ebay shop in particular you got it from? @Crusty181 ????
If its a "cloud" router, thats what i had setup before. I used my Dlink house internet wifi router, but I had to find a 12v lead to use it on the move. The EDUP has an IOS and Android App which makes it pretty simple.my fusion setup in my van has a D-link router connected to it maybe I just need to connect the hard drive to that ?
No, not a single one ..... so its in some pretty esteemed company ... ey @Drover. It will be the sad little device sitting on the pier next to you staring out to seaBut will it catch fish @Crusty181 ??
I suspect that someone guessed 8gb ..... Im using a 1TB usb3 Transcend StorejetMy only succes had been to set up the Edup for iPad but I'm thinking someone said it would only work with a USB flash up to 8gb.
Its in the back room, under that book which explains in detail @Drover's fishing mistakes (he'll need that back ... quickly) ... which in turn is near my $100 note (Ill need that back too)Now I'll have to find the damn thing after consigning it to a safe place in sheer frustration.
The EDUP has its own IOS and Android App. The "EDUP WiFi Disc App" only streams so it doesn't open any files itself, it loads whatever appropriate App you have on the device for that file your opening. Theres a couple of formats the EDUP doesn't prompt, that I have Apps on the tablet for ... buts its unlikely you'll be using those file formats anyway. And my second question (now I've stopped being grumpy about technology) is what format /s do movies have to be to work from either a lowing capacity Flash drive or higher capacity HD?
You smile is next to my $100 ..... which is next to my smileIf I can get this to work by streaming my movies (or recorded TV shows) to our iPads I'll be delighted and stop being grumpy!
yes people .... its only a drawing. I have a giftnote to self have @Crusty181 do all my future diagrams![]()
