Last Footy season I installed the TAB app on my iPhone so I could easily access all the betting odds on the AFL Footy a great way to assist my tipping i thought, so come Melbourne cup I thinks to myself what a great way to have a little flutter on the GG's , saves me having to make the journey to the pub TAB (our only option here in down town sunny Northam) anyhoo, added $100 to my account with the credit card spent $15 on bets (big spender i know) then after some reading of the fine print discovers I can't withdraw from my account until I have "turned over my original deposit" so being the hard core gambler that I am it'll be 7 years before I can get my winnings!!! Might have to put a few $$ on Greater Western Sydney to win the AFL Grand final next year

The TAB App paid off I won this years Footy tipping at the Golf Club $300 rip snorter !! but!!...... Thought I had put money on the the cup winner today unfortunately my fat fingers and tiny iPhone buttons didn't mesh and put money on the next GG on the list, Oh well you lose some you lose some .. did have a 5'er on a place on "don't feel up the Barmaid" or what ever it was called so clawed back a couple of bucks on that one, but alas did have 10 on the Fav so finished up $12 down for the day ... So after 12 months of my not so hard core gambling addiction, lost a few on a "Mates" Nag on a golf trip, won a few on the Hawks in the Grand final, I'm 3 dollars down on my original investment and no closer to being able to retrieve it
Gave my brother $70 as he knows more about these things and said "just let me know which horses you back so I can barrack for them". As a non horse person, it gives me something to get interested in and helped pass the time on the drive home with the van.
Got the horses and turns out he backed two winners and two places for me, including the winner of the cup! Came out $130 up so I said keep some for a six pack, and I'll pick up the rest when I see him next! Paid for the fuel home I suppose!

C'mon it's the Melbourne cup, what other country stops everything to watch a horse race. I love it. Don't let Halloween become bigger than one of our traditions.

Dave, I am with you on that one. Despite the fact that I know that horses make good glue when they are boiled down, the only other things I know is that they fart and they bite. Ingracious animal traits, however, should never stand in the way of a good, or even bad, long weekend.
