We are heading off on a Murray River trip tomorrow starting at Barmera and then working our way up stream towards Echuca. We will be out and about for two weeks. I will try and post pics while we are on the road. Our plan is for a mix of free camping and van parks.

Enjoy and stay safe on the road. With any luck it will be warm enough for a dip in Lake Bonney! Looking forward to the :photo:

Well we decided to spend four nights here at Lake Bonney Discovery caravan park so Tuesday we will head into Vic some where near Nyah I reckon for some free camping. I think the dog will enjoy some off the leash fun

We are now at Nyah recreation reserve and boy what a great free camping spot. Plenty of space for everyone, we have even meet some locals you were very friendly and gave us all the info on the town and surrounds.

Well we are now back home and boy how time really flies when you are away. We have had a great time away the weather has been a bit up and down in fact it has nearly ended like it began, with strong winds and a little rain. But the wind is nothing like what we had in Barmera where we went through gusts of up to 105km. This made for a nervous night with now where to go to get away from over hanging trees. We tucked up the back bed which faced into the wind and even let the dog sleep inside. We faired very well, I can not say the same for the campers next to us the poor buggers. It was their first family camping trip and by mid afternoon their tents and gear had been blown to bits. My wife and I chipped in with over caravaners to help those who wanted to or needed to pack up safely. The group next to us have been put off camping which is sad for their kids and I think it will take a lot to get their dad out again as he threw both their tents and gazebo in the bin.

After four nights at Lake Bonney Caravan Park we headed off further up the river. After topping up with supplies in Mildura we were back on the road and bound for Nyah Recreation Res. We based ourselves here for another four nights. This is a great free camp area with plenty of space for ever one. During our time there where at least another twenty groups staying here. So I guess I am not letting the cat out of the bag about this place. We ventured in to Swan Hill a couple of times, the first just for a look around and the second to visit the Swan Hill Show. On the Show day we book Ruby our dog into the Scooby Doo Dog Resort, this was not easy for us being the first time of leaving her with strangers. The kennel was ok I guess but after seeing the one we used in Echuca I would rate it as very average.
