Hi brains trust. I have just cleaned a mass of "mud wasp" nests from behind my fridge. I thought some flywire on the back of the external air vents might help, but could also restrict air flow?? What are the general thoughts/fix to stop em' getting back in??
Cheers, Graham

Ive had fly wire stuck to the inside of the upper and lower vents for about 10 years on this rig, if you give them a clean, just a rub with a brush after each trip no drama my fans on the top vent still suck away happily .... rub a bit of soap over the key hole of door/pad locks keeps them and their smaller mates out as well and doesn't jam keys, the drain hose on the fridge if it hasn't already got a screen then just bunch a bit of fly mesh and zip tie it onto the hose, water drips away happily and they don't get inside.
If your mains water fill point is open external then use a hose fitting with the hose end blocked off with silastic and fit it on the mains tap fitting, keeps it clean and clear, I added bit of cord so when I take it off to fit a hose it doesn't get lost..

My old place was mud wasp heaven, I had a couple of old fridges for my power tools so they didn't turn them into motels, learnt all the tricks the hard way.....

I've just used silastic to stick it on, use the brush from a dust pan on it when needed.....Also stops leaves and other stuff..

...similar mods as Drover...plastic type fly mesh from Bunnings and a decent fan system in the top vent to assist drawing cool air up and out...never had any dramas...or wasps.
