Happy packing, preparation and expectation to all of you.

Another wave of frozen southerners looking for some warmth in northern and central climes....the last lot seem to be around Cairns/ PortDouglas area at the moment.

Have fun....nothing like getting ready to leave .....what have I forgotten?

Who cares...just get going.

Here is a couple of Queenslanders getting away from all the southeners by going south. There is no one home down here, :p we spent 4 nights at Stenhouse Bay and were the only campers in the place although I had to rescue a Ranger when a couple stopped for breakfast and didn't turn off their fridge. We have had no problem with parks, just rock up and ask what deals they have on offer. We have had 2 nights and the third free, and one night and second one half price and a few free camps as well. But I can see why you all get the heck out of here at this time of the year, the wind is ferocious and it is cold. :smow:

We be at Cooper Pedy 22/23 so might pass each other then.. Although with 4 kids we could be later or earlier :)
Hi there - I noticed you have a van and tow vehicle combo similar to ours - interested in where you have been and where you plan to take it. We are debating keeping our Expanda 21.64-1 OB and 2015 Landrover Discovery HSE (with 3 kids - 7, 10, 13) for the Big Lap vs selling our Expanda in favour of an offroad hybrid Conqueror UEV 490. Our biggest concern with the Expanda is dust and ripped up roads, and a van that is too nice to put thru all that! We want to travel the Birdsville, Strzlecki, Gibb River Rd etc and just not sure it will be a lot of joy in the Expanda. Have you towed your Starcraft far on unsealed roads or do you mainly keep to the sealed stuff?

Always sealed sorry.
There are a few people on here with 20-21 expanda who have gone off road with prep and driving to conditions.

I really like the conquer take you anywhere you want to go off road that be great although three kids have to share a double.. Or one in a swag.

Big off road vans are not cheap like Kendon or bushtracker or Lotus. You might score one off someone who finished there trip?

Have a read of some of the trip reports for where people have taken their Jaycos and the preparation required. When we took our expanda up Cape York, there were others with the "Off road" brands having the same issues as we had, having said that we only had a little dust and one cupboard door fall off. With preparation and the big one of driving to the conditions, you will be surprised how for the expanda will go.
