Hi guys,

We bought an Expanda 18.58-2 in June and have had a couple of small trips so far to test it out. It is going in to get some Warranty issues sorted in early sep so hopefully that goes well.
We are all set for out trip to the outback in Sep/Oct.
We are travelling with two boys aged 8 and 6.
Leaving from Sydney, this is our plan.....Dubbo, Wilcannia, Eldee station at Silverton, Lake Hart, Coober Peddy, Ayres Rock Campground, Kings Canyon, Alice Springs, Devils Marbles, Camooweal Billabong, Mary Kathleen Ghost Town, Longreach, Yeppoon, Sunshine Coast, Diamond Head Campground then back home to Sydney.
If you have any tips on things to see then please feel free to share. If you are doing a similar trip let me know!
Let me know your thoughts!

We are planning a similar trip next year so will be following this with interest. Sorry I can't add anything constructive but sounds like a good plan already!

Allow an hour to look around the rocket park in Woomera, lots of interesting info about Australia's involvement in the Space race. Lake hart is a nice rest area and free from trucks and is less than an hour from Woomera.

The Stuart Range caravan park is the pick of the parks in Coober Pedy. A visit to Tom's old timers mine is worthwhile and the kids will enjoy it. Also pay a visit to the information centre to see what hotels or dugouts are open to show underground living. John's pizza bar is a must visit for a pizza while there.

Just out of Coober Pedy is the breakaways, great natural rock formations and colours, also the backdrop for filming Mad Max 3 and Priscilla.

Are we allowed to hate you!! How long do you think a trip like that will take?

Only advise I have is if your warranty items are show stoppers be all over the dealer about the repairs because they can often return a van without the issues resolved and it gives you kno time to sort before your trip.

Haha yeah you can! We have planned 4 weeks for the trip.
No big show stoppers with the van. All the issues are small but there a a lot of them!

Can only suggest you check out " warrawong on the darling" for a good place to stay around Wilcannia. It's a million times better than anything else around there.

Have fun planning ....and travelling.

The free camp in Yulara is also good...and on the way.

We enjoyed it and the pub there has good food.

Also...

Yeppoon ....the caravan park on Farborough rd (can't remember the name but it's right on the beach)....but in really windy weather find another one! When there it's a shortish drive to Byfield national park which is definately worth visiting.
