17.56.2 OB for us @ 2394KG. Love the LC200 but the Triton holds her own for now.
We went the toilet/shower and outback for hopefully a good resale. Say in about 2years.
Personal choice for whatever you can afford.
Cheers Deano

Outback for resale and clearance, also durability, ours has handled a lot of rough stuff. http://www.expandasdownunder.com/threads/crackacoldie-heads-north-barossa-to-cape-york.2970/

The thing to remember is the extra height in an outback. Our OB popp top, with independent is the same height as many touring full height vans. This effects storage and also fuel usage, as it sits higher above the tow vehicle, so extra wind drag. At the end of the day it is personal preference.

One additional option, if height restriction is an issue, order the tourer with a flat axle, this increases height by around 50mm over the 100mm when under slung.

our 17.56-2 ATM is 2383 which is over the Hilux limit
cheers

Thanks mate, is yours an outback or fully optioned out? I think the 17ft OB are to heavy for the hilux but was hoping that the touring might fit. I saw one on Ebay with a ATM 2232.

Can anyone tell me what the 18ft triple bunk expanda weighs roughly. I (I mean wife) like the idea of the shower van which rules out the 16.49-4 OB.

yeah mate its the outback, you might get away with a touring model, good luck (17.56-2 is an awsome bit of kit we love ours)

Do you mean old or new 18. Our 18 (2012) has an ATM of 2480kg. A new 18 is going to be around 2740kg in an OB. Agree with the shower sentiment though, shower is great.

+1 for the OB.
Like some of the others, we've taken ours along the Savannah Way, Gibb River Road (including Kalumburu Rd) and Cape Leveque. We had a few hinge screws come out but nothing some oversized screws couldn't fix.

Plus they look better with the chequerplate sides too!!
