I’m fixing another curtain rail in the Expanda on the ceiling. I’m wondering how thick the ceiling is….so I don’t have a screw pop out the top. Anyone know?

Not very thick at all, guess 3 to 4mm ply, towel rails are notorious for pulling out.... About the same if you have a tin van or composite panel ... I have screwed/glued a panel to the wall/roof which I then fitted the rail to, spread the load over a wider area....

Thanks Drover. I test drilled a little hole in the ceiling and it went in about 25 mm before I hit what I think was the outer (roof) lining. I have screwed and glued two saddles on the roof about 600 mm into the kitchen area and on them I hang another certain. I take it off when not in use. This gives me a little more room when I step out of the shower.

The pop tops are usually hollow box section, panels around vents and fittings like aerial with a couple of cross members of light timber ......... When I did a reseal of mine many years back I had in mind if the water had got in and rotted stuff I was going to pull off the pop top and replace it with some 25mm fridge panel and use the old trim around the edges, probably be a better roof, think they came in 2400 x 1200mm panels ... may have needed a few mods but that was the start of a "Just in case idea".
