So it begins.

I am aware of others who have built firepits in their yards and have been found envious.

From the maker of the Great Brissie Expanda Shade Sail Storage Build....

Comes a new work.......timely in its making and surely humorous in the mistakes it will entail.

I give you..........
the Great Brissie behind the Expanda Firepit stairway build.

Hold onto your hats people its gunna get real........... or I am just going to build a firepit......

Stairs cut in......sleepers to go.... first stair will be around 700mm x 1.00m with the others 900mm x 1.00m the top stair will set the new level for the pit area so the front will rise and level out by around 200mm.

Firepit dug.....concrete and besa blocks to go hole is 1.4m in diameter with the besa blocks at 190mm to have the actual pit around 1.00m in diameter

You'll have to reclaim some land at Welly pt at the rate you're going with building!

Looks good....and I love my fire pit as well. I even love my portable camping pit but the fireplace at home takes the prize.

Pity it's been so hot the last few nights ...no fire.

So we move on to the step building.........

Steps built out of 2400 x 200 x 50 sleepers at $11.45 each from Bunnings....total spend including Gal bolts was $120 including my mistake in making 2 steps the same which made the whole project look wrong......

built as boxes and roughed in......

Height and rise are an issue so they had to be dug in.......cue Doctor visit re nerve damage to back

So decided on a traditional style firepit I made out of reclaimed stone.
IMG_1215.jpg

The stone was actually "rubble" but I found pieces that were almost Volcanic total cost was $40
IMG_1221.jpg

Added the finish for the area and the first 2 steps to the base of the pit. Same rock in the base of the pit will be in the surround

Then... despite all the pictures online that were the inspiration I went with what felt right to me. I love the fact with landscaping you can chop and change more readily and go with your own mantra. So its decking time!!!!

Stone and Paint to go people!...... The seating is going to be the BIG issue for me I feel anything other than timber, particularly re-claimed or re-purposed would not do either the space or the effort justice.
