We head up each April. My boys love it. It certainly has changed. I went there with my parents when it was known as "maud's". Also use to go to monkey mia when you almost needed a 4wd to get there.
Very commercialized now, but still nice.

yeah, we used to go to Monkey Mia a lot - I love Denham
everytime we have tried to book in at Coral bay - can only find the phone number for 1 Cvan park, and they never have sites - only sodding cabins available
Im not dragging my Spanda up there to park it on the street while I stay in a cabin.......

Only been to Monkey Mia/Denham/Shark Bay once many moons ago as a youngster when my Grandfather was driving trucks doing deliveries up that way... Have been trying to get there the last 5 years around June/July but due to work related issues or me leaving it too late to get booked in haven't made it.

Hopefully next year either with the expanda or boat :)

For people's park try 6 weeks before you want to go. I know it's short notice, but you have to pay in full by then. If you don't, the site opens up for someone else. Then once you're in....you're in every 2 years. For bayview, it's a bit harder. Go on the wait list and cross your fingers.

We do monkey mia in January. It's hot, but nice. Hard to get in from Chrissy to about the 5th, but after that they seem to have room.

We used to do Kalbarri in February for quite a few years and know what you mean about heat but I love that weather..... Mrs Dagree is a whimp and prefers the cooler climate hence why we do a lot of travel in the southerly direction.

@bigcol you are now sworn to secrecy about the whimp comment next time you speak to her ;)

Just went back to the start of this post @Smirke to make sure I have the correct details for asking about the availability of bed end covers vs privacy screens tomorrow.

Noticed that you were at Coral Bay in April with the heavy rains.... Another member @Nagga's was there about the same time. She picked her van up the same day as us and we crossed paths at Caravanland without knowing it until afterwards. Small World!!!!!

Hopefully have an answer for you tomorrow if both types of bed ends can be ordered at the same time.

Thanks Dagree. Hubby n I have been waiting for today.....secretly hoping you remembered. Been checking all the website brochures but they don't seem to mention the privacy ones at all.
10 weeks to go!

@naggas didn't have a modified 17 OB did they? ( and happen to be traveling with friend who had recently bought swans?) we were near people like that and we're talking to one of the guys in the swan. ( he liked the box we put on the back)

We got stuck in Coral Bay and Cape Range @Smirke In early May after the road reopened and got dumped on with 100mm in 60min. The soft floor camper is now gone (complete with bent annexe and roof poles from the weight of the water on the roof). The wife said never again having to hold the roof up at 2am to try and keep 4 young kids dry. We also bought through Ken and ordered the storm covers. They pack up very small as @dagree said and our van comes with both sets of studs so I assume we could add privacy screens later if we wish. Very happy with the storm cover though and takes up no space at all. Good luck with the new van...

Let me guess, the last sat of school hols? We were in our swan, got down to only having the clothes we were in as dryish. (Kids were boogie boarding in the street outside park). Woke at 4 to realize it wasn't raining, so packed up and went. Lyndon river was just a trickle at that time, but heard by 9 it was shut. That's what sealed it for us as well.
Will wait and see the answer Dagree gets on the flies.

@Nagga's was in a new 14ft Expanda Outback.....
I didn't get to ask one of the sales guys but did ask Rob and Rodney in the service dept as my brother in law's brother asked me the same question re the canvas bed ends the other night. Now lets see if I get their response right!!!!!!! But I am sure @rodney can correct me if wrong!!!

The new vans now come with a different style cover/lid but if ordered when purchasing new they can fit the old style cover/lid that will accept both the bed end covers and the privacy screens.

Well, that's just silly, unless of course they actually are an improvement

I think, from memory, they said it had something to do with the change in style of the seal???

Hi@smirke. I've got both sets of studs fitted and one will definitely not fit the storm covers so I can assume they are for the privacy screens. I imagine the privacy ones are fitted ex factory and the storm covers by the dealer (maybe). I don't have the actual privacy screens to check if they fit the "inside" studs though. The cover studs are on the body of the van visible with the bed lid closed and just the sail track is mounted to the lid. Not sure if this helps. I'll get photos on the weekend if I take the cover off...
