While I'm still on a learning curve with Big Mal, it basically runs off the battery all the time, remove the battery and I don't have 12v power at all, so no lights, pump etc even the solar or Redarc needs the battery in circuit, plugged in to 240 and it runs the HWS, Redarc charger and GP's, no 240 well the LPG would run it and TV runs off 12v, been cloudy and raining here Solar has kept up with everything else.
Experiment and experience before spending will always be most enlightning in the long run, we use our van for probably 9 mths of the year and before buying stuff I really check it out to see if it will actually be of use..........always look at the " Bling" factor........

Hey @Drover thinking I still might invest in the Setec Drifter as this will provide some monitoring and also works well with the Setec device

@burnsie I find the drifter really useful monitoring the 12v side of the house (well since I wired the solar into it correctly it now works well).

It shows the current coming out of or into the battery under charging conditions from solar or Setec or both and gives what I have found to be a fairly accurate estimation of battery capacity (others on here have had different results but I think that's more about how Jayco has wired them up).

Using the standard Jayco solar controller, 2 panels, and the Setec with a drifter attached I find it all works really well.

*Try posting a bit more so your post isn't boring* (but one panel)

Hey @Bellbirdweb can I ask how your solar is integrated, mine is connected directly to the battery so it can still charge the battery even if the Setec is off, assume you have connected the solar -ve through the drifter shunt? or something else?

Yep just took the -ve input from the solar off the battery and put it into the drifter shunt.

5 minute job, pity Jayco couldn't do it correctly in the first instance
