Ours has the Truma Aventa rooftop, we have been really happy with it, cools great, fairly quiet really, looks smick as.. until! Went to use the heater the other week but no luck.. turns out (i just googled 'truma aircon not warming up') they will not warm if the ambient temperature is below 4*C.. thats handy then....................................................................... Looks like we might not go to jindabyne next year after all!

We brought a ceramic heater as already saw this.. although Truma was working fine at Bendigo until it dumped the water inside instead of outside on the roof. Not sure if it was the slight un levelled area or something else. So brought our the cheap Aldi ceramic and it worked a lot better then the heater. I think a oil column heater might be the go overnight.

Cant blame you @Racer. I wouldn't pay that kind of money for a heater that wont work <4*! I'm spewing!

I looked at the options when ordering and it doesn't provide an option for an Ibis Aircommand. It isn't that often we would camp at an outside of temp of 4. In that case I will take an oil heater or oscillating fan heater we used in our Flamingo.

We are going to be running the same rigs @blacky .....

On our recent trip West morning temperature in the van was 4 degrees, so outside 0 degrees??
The Truma still put out a bit of heat, building temp inside up to 12+.
Unfortunately, according to a close friend who installs heating/cooling systems, reverse cycle units struggle to heat when outside temperatures are low. They heat by pulling "heat" from outside to inside - if it is cold outside there is not much heat to pull inside. Hope that makes sense!
Anyway our Truma still produced some heat for us.
I will probably install a Truma gas heater (like I did in our Expanda) or a diesel heater in the Journey for when we are free camping esp.
New Avatar is from the trip - heading to Louth I think.......

I'll be getting a fan or ceramic heater for next winter in the van. The Truma Aventa freezes too quickly when the temps are in single digits. Mine also makes quite a lot of noise so I think it's over rated.

Freezes? maybe under gassed?

Yeah not sure @bigman0510. Seems to work fine in warm weather for cooling but get below 10 deg on cold nights and the heater seems to struggle before recirculating cold air...

I've never had another type of A/C or van, but mine sure makes a fair bit of noise and vibration (maybe just how the are).

I know we dont have the coldest weather over here in Wait Awhile, but I do remember when we were at Toodyay in June - and it was cold and wet and miserable
I thought the aircond was not working properly, as all I could feel was cold air (it was set on heat........)
untill I went outside
D A Y A M
it was cold as out there, and warm and toastie inside

so Ive not thought about it again
I have the Truma one as well........

Hi all. Having an issue with my Truma as well on the outback 17.56.
With cooling (and heating) a large noise like an imbalance is occurring.
I push on the internal roof (not the aircon) and it quietens. Any ideas??
