mains roads and police have started weighing all axels on vans and tugs also ball weight .On the Bruce Highway near Gympie, so far just done for education no fines as yet, that wont last long, probably pressure from head office after the current spate of van accidents in Queensland , a number of vans had to get rid of excess weight or balance loads before they could move on.

It had to come sometime! Saw some activity with Transport Department checking vans while at Longreach a while back. Also near Burpengary weighbridge for obvious tug/van combos that looked sus.

In the end education doesnt work ,fines will !My mate with the LC200 plus 24 foot Silverline ,plus large tinny
on the roof,15hp outboard ,2 large fridges for his fish,30 kilo dog, push bikes etc.wont be happy if caught.!
Typical of a caravan owner who reckons if it tows well must be legal.especially driving aLC! Mid you he did get caught overweight in SA 3 years ago towing with a new Ranger tray back.

Saw it on the news last night and one fella saying what Ive said all along , he was okay on GCM but blew the rear axle weight on his tug, so many boxes to tick .... Might get the Mod Plate fella to stop by and replate mine with a few extra Kgs, I'm sure Im close or over at times, especially when way out west.

Article shows the boys are getting serious!Appears they are going to set up moblle units in many Qld areas.Note also if your rig is overweight either van or vehicle you are classed as not roadworthy and insurance maybe null and void.!
Apparently $600.00 fine and you will not be moving untill rig weight ok.!
