If you can find one I would go with Bushranger Super Max it out performs any of the arb pumps this is why they have stopped selling them because Arb own Bushranger and it was making their pumps look bad.The bushranger pumps are made in America and the Arb ones are now made in China I found this out by one of the main state rep.

Thanks @Dandy and @Smash... thanks for the tips. I will keep an eye out for them. The Dr Air unit @Hubble80 does have some very impressive online reviews and is pretty sharply priced. At this stage it's the front runner, but I'll keep researching before picking one up on the weekend I'd imagine.

Hi @Smergen I've been using the black max compressor which i got from arb for years for 4wding,
Not the cheapest but pumping up 4 tires in 40deg heat and never missing a beat it has proven itself.

I too have one for years @NickM87 and never had a problem with the motor but the tyre gauge stopped working years ago . But as for the compressors it's done heaps of work and it still runs like brand new.

Hopefully give it a run at Beaufort mate:encouragement:

Sounds like a good idea to me!

I`ve got the Aldi $99 special, haven`t used it much but seems ok I guess time will tell.

And I get home and Mrs Smergs has the new ALDI catalogue there with all the 4x4 gear coming on sale next week. In it? Yep, that compressor... :) Maybe I should get a back up one? Provided I just hide it in my shed.... :bolt:

OK the Dr Air is now in the Marsh. Unpacked it and it looks the goods. Really heavy duty feel to it, not a hint of plastic in sight. Obviously no time to fire it up, but looking forward to playing with it pretty soon. Came with a handy 12V light which I reckon might be useful around the car, particularly with night hook ups....

Will give more of a review when I fire it up. Will take a couple of pics and the like at the same time. Maybe even the stop watch... that seems the standard companion of an air compressor these days... no one makes a post without mentioning how quickly it can inflate a 4 x 40" monster truck tyres from deadflat whilst their mates overheats halfway through the second wheelbarrow tyre... ;)

Glad you are happy with the compressor @Smergen. Another suggestion I have is that ABR Sidewinder sell a brass tyre chuck that screws into the compressor hose so you can clip it onto your valve instead of screwing onto the valve each time. Makes air ups even quicker

Thanks mate, and thanks for the tip of the connector too. Sounds like something that may make life even easier! Will look into it.
