I initially fitted the 150mm pole carrier under the rear bumper,but found it was too low in some situations.I then got some 3mm aluminium plate and bolted this to the top of the rear bumper ( this size 150mm pipe does not cover the rego plate ),I also made a smaller plate for added support/strength to the 3mm plate when I tightened the bolts on,see pics.

Here's where I mounted mine, the bottom one is mounted to A-frame and the top one is mounted to the back of the bottle bracket but will be on the wrong angle where Jayco mount the bottle holders.....I can modify that for you! :)

Hi,

Here was my solution to, what to do with all the tent poles and the mess in the front boot???

Add a false floor to the front boot;

First step move the jack (to front of boot and closer to the hatch) and mount clips for the winder and brace; 10844-04082eacca840b1136011f9a91a2a2ad.jpg
also trimmed down the jack clamping plate so it is closer to the side wall;

Next, cut material to size and pre assemble;

Topped off with a bit of thin carpet and double sided tape, which also doubles as the hinge for the easy access flap at the opening.

This has saved me from mounting two 150mm pole tubes (for which I have no room without major A frame or bumper change) to cater for the poles for the Annex, Veranda and wind break poles. At about half the weight of one 150mm pole tube and a total cost of $63, also cheaper.

The 80mm lost from the bottom of the boot was negligible, as that was the available wasted space on top of all the stuff piled in there anyway.

Cheers,
Thanks for the idea MastoCamper - I made one similar last Saturday, instead of having something else to attach to the chassis of the caravan.

Sorry for bumping an old thread but thank *%{* for this idea.
I just got a full annex today for for van for Australia wide annexes (very happy by the way) and I said to the wife where on earth are we going to store all this crap! I can't fit a pipe behind the wheel as I had a box made up to originally carry poles but is full of fishing rods and a few poles already. Very organised as you can see. . ( I wanted something so the rods and reels where ready to go. When kids want to fish you must be ready) hahaha

Any way thanks again. I will be off to Bunnings on the weekend.
Can I ask what size ply you used.
Thanks Paul

Hi @Paul that metal box looks like a great idea for fishing rods & broom etc.. What sort of place do you go to to has something like that made up & how does it mount to the chassis?

Hi. I drew up what i wanted then I had a mate fold it up out of a galvanised sheet then seem welded on the back side about 1" down from the top. Any metal fabrication shop could make you one. It has a lip on the openings and a seal so it's all dry. Has lift up doors at either end.
There is a piece of angle iron bolted to the chassis. ( could be welded but I bolted it) it's level with the bottom of the chassis rail and it sits against that. I put a thin piece of rubber between the two. Then there is a piece of angle on the bottom of the box. Thread bar between the two angles at each side and its done. Has never moved and stayed nice and tight. I can take a pic of the mounting if you want. Oh and I made the box shorter so it's not as noticeable so you could probably get another 2 or 300mm in length. Can't remember the length of it sorry but can measure if you want

Come to think of it. I might just buy different fishing rods and use my deadly storage box because i am too lazy to make the false floor lol

Now where to store all the canvas!

Too easy. Just got some with my phone. I will try and load them now.
It appears I lied. No rubber installed. Thought I did sorry. And the angle on the I side is just higher than the bottom of the rail. This means just the box is pulled tight against the rail. Geez my memory is bad. Again sorry..
Two small angle bracket on the inside of the chassis rail.
Hope they turn out

hope these help
Let me know if they don't make sense but it's a very simple and effective mounting

Managed to get my pole carrier mounted yesterday under the rear of the van in front of the rear water tank. As the kerb side of the van is blocked here by the step I had to make the opening on the driver side of the van but that is no big deal.

I also fitted my rear vision camera and tested it. All good.

Also received a call from a local Camec agent to say the pullout pantry frame I had ordered was in so next week's job is to finish the pantry cabinet. Have to spend Saturday playing Supervisor at the state elections, start at 6:30 am, finish around 9:00 pm (hopefully). Ah well, it will pay for the Airlie Beach trip. :D:D:D
